I'm by no means a history expert, but I am a serious history buff and there's something that has to be understood.
Based on the (not so distant) past of human societies, there are 2 major considerations re: Trump indictment:
1. If elections truly are fair and Trump gets taken off the ballot in '24, based on his popularity and the historical record the next phase could very well be people angered to the point of voting in a Musolini, Pinochet, or Hitler-type personality to take things to the absolute extreme.
2. If elections aren't fair, they're just going to put "their guy" in (again) and, well, that's a whole different brand of ugly, especially if it's anywhere nearly as murky or lacking in transparency as 2020 was.
Am I too much of a dreamer in wishing there was once an honest & fair point of politics that we'll find our way back to?
Because this trajectory doesn't have a good landing pattern.
