🔹A federal jury convicted 2 former precious metals traders at JPMorgan Chase & Co. of fraud, attempted price manipulation, & spoofing in a multi-year market manipulation scheme of precious metals futures contracts that spanned over 8 years & involved thousands of unlawful trading sequences.
🔹Gregg Smith, 57, was an executive director & trader on JPMorgan’s precious metals desk in NY. Smith was convicted of one count each of attempted price manipulation, spoofing, commodities fraud, & 8 counts of wire fraud affecting a financial institution
🔹Michael Nowak, 47, was a managing director & ran JPMorgan’s global precious metals desk. Nowak was convicted of one count each of attempted price manipulation, spoofing, commodities fraud, & 10 counts of wire fraud affecting a financial institution.
