⚠️ $589K USDT Remains Stuck After ZODL-Linked NEAR Intents Swap

A Zcash user says approximately $589,000 in USDT has remained inaccessible for around 50 days following a swap involving ZODL and NEAR Intents.

According to a detailed post in the Zcash Community Forum, the user initially swapped 1,120 shielded ZEC into roughly $589K USDT on July 20. That transaction reportedly completed successfully.

The issue arose afterward, when the USDT was sent to an Ethereum address provided for another swap through NEAR Intents. The funds were transferred on-chain, but the expected swap was not completed and the USDT has reportedly remained inaccessible.

The user says NEAR Intents informed him on July 23 that a compliance review had been completed and restrictions lifted. Despite this, the funds were not returned. The case was reportedly placed under compliance review again in late August.

ZODL has now publicly responded. The team says it does not hold or control the assets involved and therefore cannot directly release or return them. ZODL says the matter has been escalated to the team supporting its NEAR Intents integration and remains under review.

Importantly, there is currently no evidence of a failure in the Zcash network or shielded protocol itself. The original ZEC-to-USDT swap reportedly succeeded; the dispute concerns the subsequent external swap infrastructure and handling of the USDT.

The case remains unresolved. We will follow any substantive response or resolution from ZODL or NEAR Intents.
