Rumi Darwaza in Lucknow.

The #RumiDarwaza in #Lucknow, #UttarPradesh, India, is an imposing gateway which was built under the patronage of Nawab Asaf-Ud-Daula in 1784. It is an example of Awadhi architecture. The Rumi Darwaza, which stands sixty feet tall, was modeled (1784) after the Sublime Porte (Bab-iHรผmayun) in Istanbul.

The Taj Mahal is an ivory white marble mausoleum on the south bank of the #Yamuna river in the Indian city of Agra. It was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his favourite wife Mumtaz Mahal.

1000 #elephants and 22000 workers were used in its construction which took over 20 years.

Tomb of I'timฤd-ud-Daulah (I'timฤd-ud-Daulah Maqbara) is a Mughal #mausoleum in the city of Agra in the Indian state of #UttarPradesh. Often described as a "jewel box", sometimes called the "#BachchaTaj" or the "#BabyTaj", the #tomb of I'timฤd-ud-Daulah is often regarded as a draft of the Taj Mahal.

The tomb, built between 1622 and 1628, represents a transition between the first phase of monumental #Mughal #architecture โ€“ primarily built from red sandstone with marble decorations, as in Humayun's Tomb in Delhi and Akbar's tomb in Sikandra โ€“ to its second phase, based on white marble and pietra dura inlay, most elegantly realized in the Taj Mahal.

The mausoleum was commissioned by Nur Jahan, the wife of Jahangir, for her father Mirzฤ Ghiyฤs Beg, originally a Persian Amir in exile, who had been given the title of I'timฤd-ud-Daulah (pillar of the state). Mirzฤ Ghiyฤs Beg was also the grandfather of Mumtฤz Mahฤl (originallyโ€ฆ
