Mamannar #KalingarayanAnicut is a dam constructed on the #BhavaniRiver (tributary of #KaveriRiver) in the South Indian state of #TamilNadu. It is located just before #Kooduthurai where Bhavani combines with #Cauvery, in #Bhavani, #Erode.
The anicut was constructed in the 13th century by the Kongu Tamil Chieftain Mamannar Kalingarayan Gounder and his birth name is Lingaiya Gounder. This irrigation project involved the construction of a dam and barrage to divert the water to Kalingarayan Canal. It is one of the ancient River linking project, which established the link between Bhavani river and Noyyal river. The Kalingarayan Anicut was built in 1283.

The church was constructed by Rev. Antony Watson Brough, who came to Erode under London Missionary Society. The construction works were started in 1930 and completed in 1933. It was dedicated in 1933 by Rt. Rev. Azariah and named as Brough Memorial Church.

The Waterfalls formed by the downstream of Kodiveri Dam is a wonderful spot with nice views of the falls (close to the dam). Since the falls are not heavy, anyone can easily reach bottom of the falls and enjoy. Bathing & swimmings in the pool at bottom of the falls is a memorable experience.
