The following features are now available to users in the new version of the applications:

New Privacy Settings for Gifts
Premium users can now choose the types of gifts they want to receive from others:
• Limited-Edition gifts
• Unlimited gifts
• Unique gifts
• Premium Subscription gifts
Additionally, a gift button can now be enabled in the message input field in private chats.

Chat Bot Permission Settings
A new option in "Telegram for Business" allows users to fine-tune chat bot permissions. The settings are divided into four categories:
• Message management
• Profile management
• Gift and star management
• Story management
To access advanced bot permission settings, the bot must first be added in "Telegram for Business › Chat Bots". This feature is available only for Telegram Premium subscribers.

Additionally, the apps now include:
• Service messages about refunded stars used for sending private chat.
• New animations when pressing and holding gifts.
• A notification when the pinned gift limit (6) is reached, allowing users to unpin a previous one.
• Support for local data storage in mini-apps.

Message Channels

In the Beta version of Telegram for iOS 11.12 (30793), users may now send messages to channel admins, the channel "teleLakel" reports.

The price for messages may range from 0 to 10,000 Telegram stars. Previously, this feature appeared in Telegram for macOS.

The feature is currently in early development, only works on the test server, and may change in the future.

The latest Telegram update brings users the following features:

Direct Messages to Channels
• Channel owners can enable the ability to receive messages from users and set a fee per message: from free to 10,000 stars.
• When a user sends a message, a "Messages" chat is created, resembling a forum. Channel administrators with the "Post Messages" permission can respond to user messages.
• Communication takes place without revealing the contact details of the channel administration.

Ability to Trim Voice Messages
• Users can trim a voice message before sending it. To do this, they need to pause the recording, after which trimming functions for both the beginning and end become available.
• After trimming, users can continue recording the voice message, edit it again if necessary, and then send it.

Forum Topics as Tabs
• Forum administrators can customize the way topics are displayed. Two modes are available: "Tabs" and "List."
• The setting affects the forum’s appearance for all participants.

High-Quality Photos
• When sending an image, users can choose the quality in which the photo will be sent. Two options are available: HD and SD.
• Image quality is preserved when forwarding media files.

Sending Media Files to Stories on iOS
• iOS users can now send photos and videos from other apps directly to the Telegram Stories editor via the "Share" button.
• This simplifies publishing, for example, old photos from the gallery—making them accessible without switching between apps.

12 Answer Options in Polls
• The maximum number of answer options in polls has been increased from 10 to 12.
• Users now have the ability to create polls in "Saved Messages" to forward them to other chats later.

Collaborative To-Do Lists

The beta version of Telegram for iOS now has the ability to create to-do lists. It is likely this potentially upcoming feature will only be available to Telegram Premium subscribers. Only Premium subscribers are able to mark items as completed in existing lists.

Each list may contain up to 30 tasks and their creation is available in both personal and group chats.

When creating a list in a group, the creator of the list may choose to allow all participants to add new tasks. It is also possible to allow other users to mark and unmark tasks as “completed”, in which case the avatar of the person who completed the task will be displayed next to the check mark.

Translation Settings Disappear from Telegram for iOS

In version 11.13 of Telegram for iOS, the translation feature settings are no longer visible under "Settings › Language".

It’s likely that the settings were hidden because the translation feature has not been working since June 26.

At the same time, new lines found in the source code of Telegram apps suggest that the developers are planning to fundamentally change how translations work: apparently, users will be able to download translation models directly to their devices.

Links From Non-Contacts No Longer Work in Telegram for iOS and macOS

In the latest versions of Telegram for iOS and macOS, links received from unknown users in private chats are displayed as plain text—they are not highlighted and cannot be clicked.

This behavior appears to be an intentional security measure by Telegram to protect users from scams and malicious content.

To make a link functional again, you can:
• Add the sender to your contacts
• Dismiss the banner with action buttons at the top of the chat
• Forward the message to your “Saved Messages” — the link will become clickable there

This change has not been officially documented in Telegram’s changelogs, but it aligns with broader efforts to reduce spam and phishing attempts on the platform.

Gift Collections

In the update of Telegram for Android and iOS version 11.13.3, collections for personal gifts have become available.

This feature allows users to organize their owned gifts into separate themed sets or folders.

Key details:
• Collection names can be up to 12 characters long.
• Users can create up to 9 different collections.
• A single gift can be added to multiple collections at once.
• Other users will be able to view your collections — unless a gift is hidden in your profile settings.

You can create and browse gift collections via “My Profile” > “Gifts” in the menu.

According to strings found in the app’s source code, users may eventually be able to share links to specific collections.

Telegram for Android and iOS Updated to Version 11.14

In the new version of the app, users now have access to the following features:

Profile Rating
• Telegram has started displaying a rating badge in user profiles.
• The number on this badge depends on the total volume of successful transactions using Telegram Stars.
• Your rating increases through buying gifts, sending paid messages and star reactions to posts, and paying to promote posts.
• If you get a refund for Stars or convert gifts back into Stars, your rating will decrease.
• The badge does not appear if the user has 0 points.
• The score can be negative.
• You can't hide your spending rating — it's visible to all users.

Public Post Search
• A new “Posts” tab has appeared in the search section, showing keyword search results across all public channels.
• Global public post search is available only to Telegram Premium users.
• Even for subscribers, the number of such searches is limited: you can use global search only 10 times a day.
• For an additional fee of 10 Telegram Stars, you can send one more search request.

Story Albums
• You can now group your stories into story albums within your profile.
• You can create up to 20 such albums.
• To add stories to an album, open the “Posts” tab in your profile or channel profile and tap “Add Album”.
• Before publishing a story, users can choose which albums to include it in.

Gift Collections
• Gifts on your profile or channel can now be added to collections.
• You can create up to 10 such collections. Any gift can belong to multiple collections.
• Additionally, collections support filtering options for easier viewing.
• To add gifts to a collection, go to the “Gifts” tab in your profile or channel profile, select a gift, and tap “Add to Collection”.

Other Updates:
• New types of gifts exclusive to Premium users will be introduced soon. Each user will be able to purchase only a limited quantity of these.
• You can now create and manage new or existing bots through the new @BotFather's mini app.
• Collectible gifts can now be sold for TON in Telegram’s internal marketplace.

The Discuss Button Has Disappeared From Channel Profiles on iOS

After the introduction of direct messages to channels, Telegram users on iOS discovered that they no longer have the option to open the discussion group from a channel's profile if discussion is enabled. The button that previously opened the discussion group now opens the direct messages chat.

The editorial team of @tginfoen does not know whether this is a bug or intended behavior by the developers. The issue likely appeared in Telegram for iOS version 11.12, when channels got direct messages.

For channels without direct messages enabled, the button still opens the discussion group.

It is still possible to open the group linked to a channel with discussion enabled. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Open any post of the channel and go to the comments.
2. Press and hold the “Back” button. The app will then show a list including both the channel itself and the group linked to it.
3. Select the group.

Here’s what’s new in the October update:

• Comments in group calls: 
Participants in video chats (up to 1000 members) and group calls can now send comments and reactions directly in the call interface. These messages are temporary and disappear a few seconds after being sent.

Live Broadcasts in Stories With Paid Pinned Messages

In the Beta version of Telegram for iOS 12.2, Stories now feature live broadcasts with the ability to pin your messages using stars.

The duration of the pin, the length of the comment, and the maximum number of emojis allowed depend on the number of stars spent.

Auction for Purchasing Limited Gifts

In the beta version of Telegram for iOS 12.2 (31682), a new system for distributing gifts via auction has been implemented.

How the auction currently works:
• 50 gifts are distributed at different intervals among the top 50 participants with the highest bids. 
• If a bid drops out of the top 50, it is automatically carried over to the next draw. 
• If a bid does not win after the final draw, the stars are fully refunded.

At the moment, the auction applies to newly released gifts. Whether the system will also work for previously upgraded gifts is still unknown.

This feature is under development and currently works only on the test server. Its behavior may change in the future.
