The first #American settlers understood that #Religious freedom is the precursor to civil freedom. Establishing religious freedom needed to be the soil for the seed of individual #Liberty to blossom.

Of course, this new found freedom opened the door for many different beliefs and denominations. This led to similar conflicts that the settlers experienced in Europe.

However, a consistent emphasis on personal liberty and genuine desire to practice any religion freely caused many of these conflicts to be reconciled long before mass bloodshed could ensue.

This was the critical difference that would prove to be essential in establishing the ethos illustrated in the #Constitution.
