❗️ Just two hours ago, the Ukrainian armed forces shelled the Zaporozhye NPP with large-caliber artillery.

❌ According to the information we receive in real time, repair crews cannot reach the scene of the fire as there is still a possibility of artillery shelling.

The situation is extremely alarming, fraught with the risk of a man-made disaster at Europe's largest nuclear power plant.

‼️ If the accident happens, it will be akin to Chernobyl.

☝️ Thus, we appeal to international organizations – the UN, the IAEA – as well as to nations that have an influence on the Kiev regime to take action so that the shelling of nuclear power plants stops immediately.

Otherwise, the consequences will be hard to predict.

💬 FM Sergey Lavrov: On August 6, 1945, the United States launched a nuclear attack against Hiroshima and three days later against Nagasaki.

To this day, the terrible death of innocent civilians strikes a chord with millions of people on our planet. It is hard to fully understand what the masterminds and perpetrators of such an inhumane act were guided by.

The Soviet offensive in the Far East, as part of the agreements between the Allies, not only liberated China and Korea, but also took away Japan’s motivation to continue military operations. In that situation, atomic bombings by the United States were in fact a show of force and an operational test of nuclear weapons on civilians.

🇺🇸 United States was the first and only country to use this type of weapons of mass destruction.

🔹We paid attention to the disinformation campaign unfolding in the US media in order to attribute responsibility for the situation with the Zaporozhye NPP to our country. It is indiscriminately claimed that the Russian military launched artillery strikes on the territory of the nuclear power plant.

🔹The real state of affairs is exactly the opposite. According to the Joint Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Response, Ukrainian nationalists launched an artillery strike on the territory of the specified object on August 5. Two high-voltage power lines and a water pipeline were damaged as a result of the shelling. Only thanks to the effective and timely actions of the Russian military in covering the nuclear power facility, its critical infrastructure was not affected.

🔹We note that this is not the first provocation by Kiev at radiation-hazardous sites. The shelling of the Zaporozhye NPP by the Ukrainian armed formations is deliberate. In order to discredit Russia, the Ukrainian authorities do not shun anything, creating a real threat to the nuclear security not only of Ukraine, but of Europe as well.

🔹We call on the United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency to condemn the criminal actions of Kiev and take urgent measures to prevent provocations at radiation-hazardous facilities in Ukraine as well as American journalists to stop spreading Russophobic fabrications.

🛑 В последнее время украинские националисты активно обстреливают гражданские объекты в Донбассе противопехотными минами «Лепесток».

Применение этого вида оружия против мирных жителей является нарушением норм гуманитарного права. В частности, использование «лепестков» противоречит Дополнительному протоколу к Женевским конвенциям от 12 августа 1949 года.

Подписав Оттавскую конвенцию 1997 года, Украина обязалась ни при каких обстоятельствах - то есть даже на поле боя - не применять противопехотные мины, а также уничтожить все их запасы.

Очевидно, что Киев этого не сделал.

В настоящее время сапёры Международного противоминного центра Минобороны России оказывают властям ДНР помощь в разминировании жилых кварталов.

🛑 The Ukrainian nationalists have recently intensified the shelling of residential areas in Donbass, now use even anti-personnel the so-called butterfly mines.

The use of butterfly mines goes against the Additional Protocol to the Geneva Convention Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War of August 12, 1949.

The fact that the Ukrainian nationalists even possess butterfly mines speaks volumes. By signing the 1997 Ottawa Convention, Ukraine made a commitment not to use anti-personnel mines under any circumstances, not even on the battlefield, and to destroy all stocks of such mines held in arsenals.

Apparently, Kiev has not done any of that.

On August 1, Russia’s Permanent Mission to the UN sent the information about the use of butterfly mines by Ukraine to UNSG Antonio Guterres and the head of the Security Council. The letter with attached photographic evidence will be distributed as an official document of the UNSC & UNGA.

⚡️ Заявление МИД России о ситуации с Договором о мерах по дальнейшему сокращению и ограничению стратегических наступательных вооружений (ДСНВ)

❗️ 8 августа 2022 года Российская Федерация официально информировала по дипломатическим каналам Соединенные Штаты Америки о том, что наша страна временно выводит из-под инспекционной деятельности по Договору о СНВ свои объекты, подлежащие инспекциям по данному Договору. Это изъятие также распространяется на объекты, на которых могут проводиться предусмотренные Договором показы.

☝️ Подобные действия предусмотрены пунктом 5 Раздела I Главы пятой Протокола к Договору о СНВ.

Они могут предприниматься в исключительных случаях и для целей, не противоречащих Договору.

❗️ Российская Федерация вынуждена прибегнуть сейчас к этой мере вследствие упорного стремления Вашингтона явочным порядком добиться перезапуска инспекционной деятельности на условиях, которые не учитывают существующие реалии, создают для США односторонние преимущества и фактически лишают Российскую Федерацию права на осуществление инспекций на американской территории.

☝️ Наша цель – исключить подобную неприемлемую ситуацию и обеспечить функционирование всех механизмов ДСНВ в строгом соответствии с принципами паритета и равноправия сторон, как это подразумевалось при его согласовании и введении в силу.

Сейчас эти принципы не выдерживаются.

Так, в результате принятых с подачи Вашингтона антироссийских односторонних ограничительных мер между Россией и США прервано нормальное авиационное сообщение, а воздушное пространство государств, являющихся союзниками и партнерами США, закрыто для российских самолетов, доставляющих российские инспекционные группы в пункты въезда на американской территории.

☝️ При этом аналогичных препятствий для прибытия в Россию американских инспекторов не имеется.

МИД России поднимал этот вопрос перед соответствующими странами, однако ответа так и не получил.

💬 Anatoly #Antonov: Washington continues to "add fuel to the fire" of the Ukrainian conflict. The allocation of an additional 1 billion dollars for these purposes confirms that the United States does not intend to listen to reason and is not going to contribute to a peaceful settlement of the crisis.
🔹Against this background, the statements of the administration representatives that the supply of defense products will strengthen Kiev's position at the "probable" negotiating table look especially cynical. It is unclear how one can, in principle, talk about dialogue in conditions when the only goal of the United States is to prolong the conflict as much as possible.
🔹Washington's short-sighted steps create an illusion among unscrupulous figures in Kiev about the possibility of "exhausting" Russia and winning on the battlefield. As a result, the number of victims of the adventurous policy of the ruling class of Ukraine is growing.
🔹The United States of America is increasingly drawn into the conflict, approaching a dangerous line in the confrontation with the Russian Federation. Such an approach will not do anything good for peace and security. It will only prolong the agony of the Ukrainian regime.
🔹We state that the unrestrained pumping of Ukraine with weapons is increasingly causing concern in the United States itself. American experts, columnists of leading publications and ordinary citizens are wondering: how much help reaches its destination? There is a lot of evidence of fraudulent schemes during the transportation of defense products. This proves that it is becoming more difficult to hush up the pernicious aspects of military assistance to Kiev.
🔹However, some of the American weapons still end up on the front line. Zelensky's militants carry out deadly strikes on residential areas of Donbass cities on a daily basis. And now they are also exposing whole Europe to extreme danger by attacking the Zaporozhye NPP. We hope that these facts will open the eyes of US citizens as soon as possible and they will understand whom exactly their country supports.
🔹Developing countries are watching Washington's policy in the Ukrainian direction with surprise and incomprehension. They ask a fair question: is it really so easy to throw into the void billions of dollars that could be spent on the economic and social demands of Latin America, Africa and Asia. Especially in the post-covid period, when these regions most urgently need the funds and assistance from the leading economies of the world.

❗️On August 8, 2022, the Russian Federation officially notified the United States, through diplomatic channels, of its decision to temporarily exempt the inspection activities from the facilities subject to inspection under the Treaty. This exemption includes the appropriate facilities at which exhibitions may be conducted under the Treaty.

🇷🇺🇺🇸 We hope to continue close cooperation with the American side. We have always advocated and continue to advocate a discussion on the resumption of inspection activities under the Treaty from a position of practical reality.

☝️ We would like to emphasise that the measures we have adopted are temporary. Russia is fully committed to the observance of the provisions of the Treaty, something we consider to be a very important instrument in maintaining international security and stability.

💬 С.А.Рябков: К сожалению, в Вашингтоне, видимо, рассудили иначе и пошли на необоснованное и ненужное обострение. Попытались поставить нас перед фактом и провести инспекцию явочным порядком.

☝️ Провокационности данному шагу добавляет то, что он осуществлён непосредственно в период проведения Обзорной конференции по ДНЯО, где одно из центральных мест занимает обсуждение проблематики ядерного разоружения и снижения стратегических рисков.

Остаётся лишь догадываться об истинных мотивах американской стороны, но выглядит это так, что направление запроса о проведении инспекции не было продиктовано добросовестными целями укрепления жизнеспособности ДСНВ и ДНЯО.

🔹Что касается сельхозугодий, есть свидетельства неоднократных целенаправленных поджогов урожая украинскими формированиями. Для этого используются даже вертолеты, разбрасывающие тепловые ловушки.
🔹Все это доказывает: реальная ситуация прямо противоположна тому, о чем вещает госдеп. Однако это не останавливает организаторов дезинформационной кампании против России. Нам не перестают приписывать деяния молодчиков из Киева. In the Russophobic campaign, the Americans surpassed themselves by comparing the actions of the Russian Armed Forces with the tactics of ISIS in Syria. We were accused, among other things, of blocking access to farmland.
🔹We strongly reject these insinuations. During the negotiations on grain exports, the international community has already made sure that the Ukrainians themselves mined the coastal waters of the Black Sea. This practice extends to numerous social and infrastructure facilities. In particular, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are installing explosive devices on the territory of schools and kindergartens, literally dotting forests and fields with mines in various directions. By the way, some of the ammunition (for example, Claymore and C-4) is supplied from the USA.
🔹Ukrainian terrorists are firing shells equipped with Butterfly anti-personnel high explosive mines (PFM-1) at the cities of Donbass. More than 30 people, including children and elderly people, have already been blown up on them. Such actions clearly demonstrate the attitude of the Zelensky regime towards the population of those lands that Kiev would like to consider its own.
🔹As for farmland, there is evidence of repeated targeted arson of crops by Ukrainian formations. Even helicopters are used for this, scattering heat traps.
🔹All this proves that the real situation is the exact opposite of what the State Department states. However, this does not stop the organizers of the disinformation campaign against Russia. They do not stop attributing to us the deeds of the thugs from Kiev. The time has long come to truthfully show the crimes of the Kiev regime to the world, calling it to account for atrocities, primarily against its population.
