🇷🇺A solemn evening was held at the Embassy on the occasion of 🎖Defender of the Fatherland Day (Part 1)

The event was attended by ambassadors and military attaches of friendly countries, Russian and American journalists, compatriots.

👉An exhibition «Liberation», provided by Rossiya Segodnya International Media Group with the support of the Russian Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, was displayed at the diplomatic mission. Another project on the atrocities of Ukrainian armed formations in Donbass, prepared by a member of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation Maxim Grigoriev, was also exhibited.

The guests were welcomed with a speech by Ambassador Anatoly Antonov.

💬Anatoly Antonov: Dear friends,

I would like to congratulate you on one of Russia's most revered holidays - Defender of the Fatherland Day.

🛡Security of any nation rests on its army and navy. Only strong Armed Forces are able to guarantee the independence and territorial integrity of a country.

Throughout our centuries-long history, we have paid special attention to our military. We have spared no effort and resources so that it could defend the Fatherland in times of need. Russian soldiers have proven their might, heroism and devotion to the Motherland on many occasions. They have thrown the enemy back from our borders many times.

Our valiant soldiers and officers defended the Fatherland at Borodino field. They achieved a crushing defeat over Nazism in the Great Patriotic War. And now they continue to protect not only Russia, but also global security from the "brown plague" that has taken root in Ukrainian soil.

☝️We have witnessed major upheavals in various regions of the world, be it the Middle East, Asia or Europe. The disregard for basic principles of international relations that form the basis of the UN Charter no longer surprises anyone. The trend towards increased unpredictability and conflict is apparent. The trust gap between the great powers is enormous. The disunity leads to the spread of dangerous challenges and threats. Terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction are the main among them.

Russia has been doing and keeps doing its best to solve arising problems peacefully. However, we run up against opposition who is not ready to give up on the unipolar world order.

💬Anatoly Antonov: Time will show whether our opponents are capable of sober thinking, which implies a refusal to create dividing lines and the beginning of work to restore strategic stability that is in demand today as never before.

Our Armed Forces remain a reliable guarantor of Russia's security. As in previous years, they are on the front line, implementing the goals and tasks of the special operation to extinguish the military fire on our borders. The hard work and the feat of arms of the Russian soldier find a strong resonance in the hearts of millions of our citizens. It is only through this unity that we have been able to achieve victories in the past, with everyone contributing to the common cause. And the same is happening today – amid belligerent calls to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia.

📆On April 25, 1945, there was a famous meeting of Soviet and American troops on the Elbe River. We remember that time when our countries stood shoulder to shoulder to save humanity from Nazism. Russian and American veterans cherish the memory of their comradeship in arms. It is our hope that the spirit of the Elbe will not just remain a symbol in relations, but will actually help us improve the situation in the world.

🤝Russia will continue to do everything possible to develop constructive cooperation, to strengthen trust and mutual understanding between politicians and the military. We will work to shape a just world order based on international law, the principle of indivisibility of security and strict observance of the UN Charter.

Today we pay tribute to all those for whom defending the Homeland is not only a duty, but also a life’s vocation. First of all, those who wear a military uniform. Honor and praise to the veterans. Our warmest words of appreciation and respect go to all those who are now on the frontline, on guard or combat duty, on missions far from home.

⚡️ Заявление МИД России в связи с подготовкой киевским режимом военной провокации в отношении Приднестровья ⚡️

💬 В связи с зафиксированным Министерством обороны Российской Федерации значительным скоплением личного состава и военной техники украинских подразделений вблизи украинско-приднестровской границы, развертыванием артиллерии на огневых позициях, а также беспрецедентным наращиванием полетов беспилотной авиации ВСУ над территорией Приднестровья предостерегаем США, страны-члены НАТО и их украинских подопечных от очередных авантюрных шагов.

Последовательно выступаем за решение любых вопросов политико-дипломатическим путём. При этом ни у кого не должно быть сомнений, что Вооруженные Силы Российской Федерации адекватно отреагируют на провокацию киевского режима, если таковая все же последует, и обеспечат защиту наших соотечественников, российского миротворческого контингента, военнослужащих Оперативной группы российских войск и военных складов в н.п. Колбасна в Приднестровье.

❓: Уважаемый Анатолий Иванович, как бы Вы могли прокомментировать объявленные сегодня антироссийские шаги Соединенных Штатов? Согласитесь ли Вы с оценкой, что администрация вновь попыталась «удивить весь мир» ограничениями против сотен россиян и отечественных компаний, а также предоставлением Киеву крупной партии оружия?

💬 А.И.Антонов: 24 февраля мир стал свидетелем очередной порции таких же бездумных, как и ранее, экономических и персональных санкций в отношении России и ее граждан. Нас опять хотят заставить «страдать». Неужели, кто-то считает, что таким образом можно добиться отказа нашей страны от независимой политики, столкнуть с избранного пути на построение многополярного мира, основанного на принципе неделимой безопасности, на международном праве и Уставе ООН?

‼️Здесь никак не могут понять, что новые поставки ПВН, как и все предыдущие, лишь затягивают ход конфликта. Ведут к продолжению кровопролития, никак не помогая приблизить установление мира. Тем временем российская армия продолжает уверенно выполнять стоящие перед ней задачи, защищая Отечество. Наших военных поддерживает вся страна.

Ничего не получается у Вашингтона с союзниками и с санкционным «удушением» России. Мы научились жить в условиях экономического и политического давления. Российская экономика перестраивается. Растут мощности по импортозамещению. Сельское хозяйство показывает завидные для многих государств результаты. Даже бреттон-вудские институты прогнозируют нам рост уже в текущем году.

👉Тем временем в большинстве стран-зачинщиков рестрикций бушует кризис, растет дефицит товаров и галопирует инфляция. Опыт прежних санкций показал, что в большей степени они наносят ущерб мировому рынку, ухудшают положение простых граждан в государствах, которые инициируют или поддерживают безрассудные санкции.

Абсолютно лживы и утверждения Соединенных Штатов об «изоляции» России. Мы сотрудничаем с мировым сообществом даже активнее, чем раньше. Только акцент делаем не на утративших доверие бывших партнерах, а на тех государствах, которые готовы работать на взаимовыгодной и равноправной основе.

☝️По сути, Вашингтон целенаправленно разрушает двусторонний диалог и международные отношения. Каким образом здесь собираются выходить из подобного пике - никто, включая саму администрацию, видимо, задумываться не хочет.

❓: Dear Ambassador, how would you comment on the anti-Russian steps announced by the United States today? Would you agree that the new restrictions against hundreds of Russian citizens and companies as well as a large shipment of weapons to Kiev are another attempt of the administration to "surprise the world"?

💬Anatoly Antonov: On February 24th, the world has witnessed yet another round of mindless economic and personal sanctions against Russia and its citizens. They once again want us to "suffer". Does anyone really believe that such measures will make our country give up its independent course, divert from the chosen path towards a multipolar world based on the principle of indivisible security, international law and the UN Charter?

‼️They fail to understand that new supplies of weapons, like all the previous ones, only prolong the conflict, leading to continued bloodshed and in no way helping bring peace any closer. Meanwhile, the Russian army keeps making strong progress in completing the tasks set before it to defend the Fatherland. Our military is supported by the entire country.

Washington and its allies are not succeeding in their attempts to "strangle" Russia with sanctions. We have learned to live under economic and political pressure. The Russian economy is being readjusted, and our capabilities in import substitution are increasing. Russia's agriculture is demonstrating impressive and enviable for many countries results. Even Bretton Woods institutions are predicting growth for our country already this year.

👉At the same time in most of the countries that have instigated the restrictions the crisis is raging, they face a growing shortage of goods and a galloping inflation. Previous experience with sanctions has shown that these primarily harm the global market and worsen the situation for ordinary citizens in the countries that initiate or support reckless sanctions.

The U.S. claims about Russia being "isolated" are completely false. We are cooperating with the international community even more actively than before. The only difference is that we are now placing the emphasis on states that are ready to work on a mutually beneficial and equal basis, rather than on former partners who have lost our trust.

☝️In fact, Washington is deliberately destroying the bilateral dialogue and international relations. And no one, including in the US administration, looks willing to search for a way out of this dive.

❓: Уважаемый Анатолий Иванович, как бы Вы прокомментировали заявление министра финансов США Дж.Йеллен в свете принятого 24 февраля на заседании в Париже Группы разработки финансовых мер борьбы с отмыванием денег (ФАТФ) решения приостановить членство России в этой организации?

💬 А.И.Антонов: Глава казначейства явно потирает руки от реализации откровенно политизированной инициативы в рамках сугубо технической по своему мандату многосторонней площадки. Все это выглядит непрофессионально и безответственно.

Администрация отказывается понять, что приостановка участия России в ФАТФ - опасный шаг, который фактически ведет к эрозии глобальной архитектуры противодействия «отмыванию» денег, финансированию терроризма и распространения оружия массового уничтожения.

👉Получается, что любого члена ФАТФ в угоду конъюнктурным запросам Вашингтона можно «выдавить» из Организации, лишив возможности вносить полезный вклад в коллективные усилия по обеспечению международной безопасности. Россия за двадцать лет членства в Группе сделала многое для продвижения эффективных стандартов в области борьбы с криминальными доходами. Соединенным Штатам хорошо об этом известно. Равно как и то, что мы создали одну из самых передовых национальных «антиотмывочных» систем. Оценочная миссия ФАТФ в 2019 г. это доказала. Входившие в ее состав американские эксперты могут подтвердить данный факт.

☝️Международному сообществу очевидно, что Вашингтон готов пожертвовать благополучием и стабильностью человечества ради банального и оголтелого сведения счетов с Россией.

❓: Dear Ambassador, how could you comment on the statement of US Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen on the decision of the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (FATF) taken on February 24 at a meeting in Paris to suspend the membership of the Russian Federation in that organization?

💬Anatoly Antonov: The Secretary of the Treasury is apparently rubbing her hands at the implementation of a frankly politicized initiative within the framework of a purely technical, by its mandate, multilateral forum. All of it looks unprofessional and irresponsible.

The US administration refuses to understand that the suspension of Russia's participation in the FATF is a dangerous step that actually leads to the erosion of the global architecture to combat money laundering, the financing of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

👉It turns out that any member of the FATF, for the sake of Washington's opportunistic needs, can be «squeezed» out of the Organization and deprived of the opportunity to make a useful contribution to collective efforts to ensure international security. Russia for 20 years of membership in the group has done a lot to promote effective standards in the field of combating criminal proceeds. The United States is well aware of it as well as of the fact that we have created one of the most advanced national «anti-money laundering» systems. The FATF’s Mutual Evaluation Review proved this in 2019. The US experts who were part of it can confirm this fact.

☝️It is obvious to the international community that Washington is ready to sacrifice the well-being and stability of humanity in order to trivially and frenziedly settle an old score with Russia.
