On September 21, FM S. Lavrov took part in a trilateral ministerial meeting in the Astana format held on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

During an in-depth exchange of views on the current situation in 🇸🇾 Syria and around it, the Ministers emphasised the need to achieve sustainable stabilisation on the ground and peace and security of the Syrian Arab Republic by restoring its sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity.

Following the trilateral meeting, the Foreign Ministers of Russia, Iran and Turkey held consultations with 🇺🇳 UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen. They discussed the progress of the political process, which the Syrians themselves are conducting with UN support in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2254.
