If the think tanks get any vaguer, more unconstitutional, more ahistorical and more undifferentiated in their for-pleb-consumption line on who lawfully has power, derived how and why, to do what and say what to whom, when and where, they’ll be in danger of sinking even as far as the level of the churches!

“At some stage, we are going to have to cut the umbilical cord with the state. Getting our urban areas back will prove very easy to accomplish; what is not easy to get over is the sense of shame at willing abuse perpetrated by our enemy authorities because we wanted the flow of freebies to continue a bit longer. That is a stain that you just can’t get rid of through political action.”

A genre of billboard that one typically sees in the EU Quarter of Brussels.

The Westminster equivalent is the governing party backbencher’s softball at Prime Minister’s Question Time: “Does the honourable gentleman agree that he is a jolly good egg—indeed, that this country needs a robust Good Eggs Strategy—and when will he be investing public funds in the megacorp in my constituency that’s tipped me the wink for a non-executive directorship once I lose my seat?”

Election Day meditation

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

To those thinking about not voting -

The people who have started and promoted the online 'refuse to be part of the corrupt system by not voting/spoil your ballot/vote none of the above' campaign are the exact same people who will benefit the most by it - the Uniparty Tory/Labour party.  We thought we would lose the Brexit vote, but enough of us turned up anyway to 'win' it.  Voting Independent or Reform etc sends a message and sets up a good argument for proportional representation later on.  Farage will make that argument but needs the numbers to justify it.  We're looking at Labour potentially getting a huge majority off the back of 20-30% of the votes.
There are VERY good reasons why Muslims, by fair means or foul, make damn sure they get every single vote in that they can, whilst so many of the rest of us don't bother.  Kahn's reelection should be a lesson for all of us.

They got away with Brexit in name only because ALL parties were pro Europe and there was NO opposition! We need to get an opposition in there.
There was a high turnout of 67% of eligible voters last election but, still, we had a govt elected by a minority of the population. If the other 33% had voted, we might not have the Labour and Tory parties we have now. Low turnouts favour the system. You haven't noticed the disproportionately huge impact a small minority of Muslims have right now on both parties? They vote, and because they do they have a massive amount of influence and get a LOT of concessions to the huge detriment of native Brits. Noticed many Muslims being arrested for preaching/demonstrating in the streets, but a Christian does and says there are only 2 genders and he's off in cuffs! A non vote in any form absolutely guarantees extreme and minority interests run the country. The only way to challenge the system is to vote.

Lunch break was called in the meeting I’m interpreting today at 12:37. The chairman said, “See you back here at two, everyone.”

The interpreters’ guild insists on a ninety-minute break. Some chairmen would have told the delegates to “be back for ten past two” at such a juncture.

Today’s interpreting chef d’équipe is German.

Thirty seconds after the chairman had hit the off button on his microphone, our digital schedules were updated (the chef d’équipe’s job) to read:

“Afternoon session: 14:07–17:00”

Don't forget to sit up all night for this pointless exercise.

— I know you were in jest. But seriously, the only good reason for staying up tonight is to pray. Otherwise, “It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so he giveth his beloved sleep” (Psalm 127:2).
