The eastern end of the Czech Lands has remained a surprisingly pious corner of Europe, sending out remarkable missionaries, one of whom ended up sharing a cell with al-Qa'ida men in Khartoum for the crime of Bible distribution—one of the privileges of my life was to interpret for this dear man to a Dutch audience after his release.
This album showcases the gorgeousness of Moravian Christian music. It is a collaboration between the most accomplished Moravian folk group, Hradišťan, and the world-renowned girls' choir, Bambini di Praga. There are Christmas carols, lullabies and pastoral songs, all sung in deep harmony with mellifluous string accompaniment and occasional strains of the bagpipes.
