💢 Russia is ready to assist in resolving the Middle East conflict if the security interests of Iran and its regional neighbors are respected, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

Lavrov discussed the rapidly deteriorating situation by phone with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lavrov reiterated Moscow’s position in favor of rapid de-escalation and a return to a political and diplomatic settlement, with Russia prepared to help facilitate the process.

❗️— In a escalatory move, the missile forces of the IRGC have begun to use heavy liquid-fueled medium-range ballistic missiles Khorramshahr-4, weighing 25-30 tons and having a range of 2,000 to 3,000+ km (depending on the weight of the warhead).

However, the main surprise for the anti-Iranian coalition forces in this case is not so much the fact of the use of this type of missiles, but the equipping of some of them with cluster warheads.

The types of submunitions used so far and samples of unexploded ones, show they do not have aerodynamic control surfaces, but only tail stabilizers, and small submunitions do not have any "hints" of stabilization and control at all, their total number of up to 80 units in the separating warhead of each missile can be quite enough to cause significant damage to such objects as runways, oil terminals or aircraft carrier decks.

And the success here will depend solely on the number of elements that hit the target object.

Anti-missiles SM-3 Block IB/IIA and Arrow 3, as well as THAAD, can shoot down some of the Khorramshahr-4 missiles in the exoatmospheric phase before the opening of the clusters, but even if one warhead manages to "unpack" on its way to the target object, no Western air defense system, including Patriot PAC-3 MSE, is capable of intercepting its small submunitions, traveling at speeds of up to Mach 8.
