How to Check Your Visa
Result on Universitaly (Before VFS Calls You)
After you apply for your Visa (D) Long Stay through Universitaly, you don't have to wait passively for a call from VFS. The Universitaly system sends you an automatic email as soon as the Embassy/Consulate updates your visa status.
What the email looks like:
Sender/Subject line: From Universitaly, referencing the Embassy/Consulate handling your case (e.g., "AMBASCIATA ADDIS ABEBA" / "EMBASSY ADDIS ABABA")
Key line to check: Look for the bold status line right under "has taken the following action"
Two possible outcomes:
โ VISA (D) LONG STAY ISSUED โ Your visa has been approved. You can proceed to collect your passport/visa sticker from the embassy or VFS center.
โ VISA (D) LONG STAY DENIED โ Your visa application was rejected. You should contact the embassy directly for the reason and next steps (the email provides their contact link, e.g., ambaddisabeba.esteri.it).
Important notes:
The email is sent automatically โ it explicitly says "you are kindly requested not to reply."
This notification usually arrives before you get any phone call from VFS about picking up your passport.
Keep checking your inbox (and spam folder) regularly after applying โ this is often the fastest way to know your result.

๐ 3. Prepare & Attest Educational Documents
Start preparing your academic documents early.
Always prepare documents according to the requirements applicable to your qualification and university.
โ 4. Get the Required Documents Apostilled
After completing the necessary attestations, proceed with the required apostille from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA),
๐ฎ๐น 5. Arrange Italian Translation
Documents that are required in Italian should be translated carefully in accordance with the applicable university, scholarship, or consular requirements.

Italy offers regional right-to-study benefits, but applications, requirements and deadlines vary by region and academic year.
International students should check the scholarship authority responsible for the region where their university is located.
