Jordanian Ambassador Explores Collaboration with Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority

ADDIS ABABA — The Jordanian Ambassador to Ethiopia, His Excellency Amjad Al-Moumani, paid an official visit to the headquarters of the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority (ECTA) today, April 16, 2026. Upon his arrival, the Ambassador was welcomed by the Director General of the Authority, Dr. Adugna Debela, for high-level discussions aimed at strengthening agricultural trade ties between the two nations.

During the meeting, Ambassador Al-Moumani emphasized that Jordan has a profound interest in Ethiopian coffee, noting that it is a widely consumed beverage in his country. He expressed a strong desire to collaborate on coffee import and export ventures, citing Ethiopia's reputation for producing high-quality agricultural goods. However, the Ambassador pointed out that to fully realize this trade potential, Jordan requires more comprehensive data regarding Ethiopia’s specific coffee grading standards and the formal procedures governing the marketing and procurement process.

In response, Dr. Adugna Debela provided an extensive briefing on the Authority’s strategic mission to modernize the coffee, tea, and spice sectors. He explained that the ECTA is dedicated to boosting productivity and ensuring that all exports are of premium quality and fully traceable for the global market. Dr. Adugna underscored the vital role coffee plays in the Ethiopian economy and its deep-rooted significance in the country’s cultural heritage. He further noted that following recent national reforms, the sector has seen a major breakthrough in terms of quality control and production efficiency.

To facilitate Jordan's future trade activities, the Director General elaborated on the legal framework for exporters, the logistics of product transportation, and the rigorous monitoring systems currently in place. The visit concluded with Ambassador Al-Moumani touring the Authority’s specialized Coffee Training Center to see the quality-control process firsthand. እንደ Safras & Mercado ያሉ ተቋማት የብራዚል የ2026/27 ምርት ወደ 75.65 ሚሊዮን ከረጢት/Bag ሊጠጋ እንደሚችል ገምተዋል። ይህም በተለይ በአረቢካ ቡና ላይ የ29% እድገት ያሳያል ተብሏል። እንዲህ ዓይነቱ የአቅርቦት መተማመን ደግሞ በዋጋው ላይ የሌለ ጫናን ፈጥሯል በቀጣይም ይፈጥራል።

3. ደካማ የንግድ እንቅስቃሴ
በቪየትናም ገበሬዎች ምርት ይዘው ተቀምጠዋል፤ በኢንዶኔዥያ ደግሞ የዋጋ ልዩነቶች (Premiums) እየጠበቡ መጥተዋል። ገዥዎችም ሆኑ ሻጮች ነገሮችን በትዕግስት እየተጠባበቁ በመሆናቸው ገበያው ተቀዛቅዟል።
