In a significant move to bolster coffee research and development, Dilla University convened a high-level discussion aimed at forging stronger collaborations with the stakeholders.
The meeting focused on enhancing partnerships with leading international and domestic companies to drive innovation and sustainability in Ethiopia's iconic coffee industry. Key partners in this initiative include global coffee giant Starbucks and Ethiopia's own agricultural technology leader, the Kerchanshe Group.
"Our objective is to forge a powerful synergy," explained Habtamu Temesgen, Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer. "By combining Dilla University's research strengths with the practical expertise of partners like Starbucks and Kerchanshe, we aim to develop transformative solutions that ensure the sustainability and prosperity of Ethiopia's coffee sector."
The collaboration seeks to leverage the combined expertise of academia and industry to advance coffee improvement initiatives. The goal is to maximize the impact of research and development in the region, cementing Ethiopia’s status as the historic birthplace of coffee.
Following the discussions, delegates embarked on a field visit to Kerchanshe Group's Debeka Farm, a showcase of modern, mechanized coffee farming. The tour provided firsthand insight into advanced agricultural practices and highlighted potential areas for collaborative research and technology transfer.

የኢትዮጵያ ቡና በዱባይ ዓለም አቀፍ የቡና ኤግዚቢሽን ከፍተኛ ተወዳጅነት አተረፈ

ኢትዮጵያ በመካከለኛው ምስራቅ ቀዳሚ በሆነው 5ኛው የዓለም አቀፍ የቡና ኤግዚቢሽን (World of Coffee Dubai 2026) ላይ ደማቅ ተሳትፎ በማድረግ ላይ ትገኛለች፡፡ በዱባይ የንግድ ማዕከል ከጥር 10 እስከ 12 ቀን 2018 ዓ.ም በመካሄድ ላይ በሚገኘው ኩነት 26 ኢትዮጵያውያን ኤክስፖርተሮች ጥራት ያላቸውን የኢትዮጵያ ቡና ምርቶች ለእይታ ያቀረቡ ሲሆን ይህም ከነጋዴዎች፣ ከዕሴት ጨማሪዎች (Roasters) እና ከዘርፉ ባለሙያዎች ከፍተኛ ትኩረትን አግኝተዋል፡፡
ከኤግዚቢሽኑ ጎን ለጎን በአቡዳቢ የኢ.ፌ.ዴ.ሪ. ኤምባሲ እና በዱባይ የኢትዮጵያ ቆንስላ ጄኔራል አስተባባሪነት ልዩ የፓናል ውይይት የተካሄደ ሲሆን በውይይቱ ላይ የዘርፉ ባለሙያዎች፣ ባለሀብቶችና የሚዲያ ተወካዮች ታድመውበታል፡፡
በመድረኩ ላይ የመክፈቻ ንግግር ያደረጉት በተባበሩት ዐረብ ኤምሬቶች የኢ.ፌ.ዴ.ሪ. ልዩ መልዕክተኛና ባለሙሉ ሥልጣን አምባሳደር ክቡር ዶ/ር ጀማል በከር ኢትዮጵያ የአረቢካ ቡና መገኛና የዓለማችን እጅግ የበለፀገ የቡና ብዝሃ-ሕይወት መኖሪያ መሆኗን ገልጸዋል፡፡ ክቡር አምባሳደር አክለውም የቡና ዲፕሎማሲን በማጠናከር የኢትዮጵያን የቡና ምርት በተባበሩት ዐረብ ኤምሬቶችና በመካከለኛው ምስራቅ ገበያ ይበልጥ ተደራሽ ለማድረግ ኤምባሲው በትኩረት እየሰራ መሆኑን ገልጸዋል።
የኢትዮጵያ ቡናና ሻይ ባለሥልጣን ዋና ዳይሬክተር ክቡር ዶ/ር አዱኛ ደበላ በበኩላቸው በኢትዮጵያ የቡና ዘርፍ ላይ እየታዩ ያሉ ወቅታዊ ለውጦችን፣ የምርት እድገትንና ጥራትን ለማሻሻል እየተከናወኑ ያሉ ተግባራትን በተመለከተ ሰፊ ገለጻ አድርገዋል።
በፓናሉ ወቅት በክቡር አምባሳደር ዶ/ር ጀማል በከር አወያይነት የጥያቄና መልስ መርሃ-ግብር የተካሄደ ሲሆን በዘርፉ የሚታዩ የአቅርቦትና የሎጂስቲክስ ችግሮች፣ በቡና ምርት ላይ እሴት መጨመር እና የገበያ ተወዳዳሪነትን ማሳደግ በሚቻልባቸው ሁኔታዎች ላይ ገንቢ ውይይት ተካሂዷል።
ነገ ጥር 12 በይፋ የሚጠናቀቀው ይህ ኤግዚብሽን ኢትዮጵያ በዓለም አቀፍ የቡና ገበያ ላይ ያላትን የላቀ ድርሻ ለማስጠበቅና አዳዲስ የገበያ ትስስሮችን ለመፍጠር ከፍተኛ ሚና ይኖረዋል ተብሎ ይጠበቃል፡፡
