BREAKING: LASD just extended back-to-back double shifts for another 90 days.
For those just tuning in, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is in the middle of a staffing crisis. Deputies continue to be relieved of duty over comparatively minor issues, while command staff has remained in place after three detectives were killed under their watch in a tragedy that resulted in more than $350,000 in Cal/OSHA fines (not to mention the cover-up involving the “missing”grenade).
AND… LASD is in the midst of a budget crisis that has led to supply shortages—including an internal memo suggesting employees bring their own toilet paper to work—despite having an extra half BILLION dollars more in the budget than the previous administration with 30% LESS PERSONNEL and LA Sheriff still could manage the budget.
Now another 90 days of back-to-back double shifts for an already overworked, under appreciated and downright ABUSED line staff. BTW, exhaustion is not a staffing plan.
