Two workers were injured Tuesday morning after an explosion during a routine transfer of magnesium metal powder at the Coogee Metal Powders Division facility on Titanium Drive in Ottawa. The blast occurred just before 8 a.m., and firefighters had the fire under control by 8:15 a.m. Authorities briefly advised residents to avoid the area near Route 6 and Titanium Drive. The workers’ conditions have not been released, and Illinois OSHA is investigating the cause, with early indications pointing to possible equipment failure.
