"Judgment does not protect your heart. It closes the gateway before Divine grace has entered within. Coming to quick conclusion and assumption — about another, about a path, about yourself — mistakes a glimpse for the whole. What was still forming is turned away. Possibility does not argue with a closed heart. It passes, unseen. Held without awareness, that same glance can narrow a life until only the conclusion remains, and the living is gone.

Most of this is not cruelty. It is simply unconsciousness. The eye that judges the other is already judging the self. Do not become the one who chases the bee, Beloved. Become the flower. Beloved…five of the most faithful teachers in our home have no lineage name, no robes, and no books. They have whiskers.
Every morning they show me the same quiet teaching. They find the one patch of sunlight on the floor, stretch slowly, and settle into it completely. They aren't replaying yesterday or worrying about tomorrow. They're just here, warm and resting, without apologizing for it.

When I sit for meditation, Krishna ( our little back one) usually finds my lap within minutes, as if the stillness called them. He curls up close by and starts to purr. That steady hum fills the room, the body softens, and the breath slows without any effort. Their presence asks for nothing and still gives so much. In the Siddha Nath tradition we call this Sannidhya, the grace of presence. Our cats don't try to be present. They are presence.

Here is what they teach, if we let them:

✨ Rest is sacred. A cat never feels guilty for resting and be still. Let your nervous system come home.

✨ Receive fully, and leave when it's complete. They take in love wholeheartedly and walk away when they're done. That's a gentle lesson in boundaries.

✨ Witness without chasing. Watch a cat at the window watching a bird. It is fully alert but doesn't move. That is Sakshi Bhava, the witness. Thoughts can fly by like birds. You don't have to leap after every one.

✨ Stay through the tears. When the heart is heavy, they often come close. They don't try to fix anything. They just stay. Sometimes that is the deepest healing there is…presence and deep listening.

✨ They are always in a state of wonderment, open, receptive, vulnerable, curious and always want to know. Tonight, Beloved, sit beside you cat you love, or simply picture on, or better yet rescued a homeless cat. Match their breath. Let your shoulders drop. Feel how little you actually need to do to be at peace.
The present moment isn't somewhere you have to reach. It's where you rest when you stop running and just being.
