BHA_For-Work_Guidance_2024.pdf
USAID #BHA published new guidance for implementing emergency work guidelines for 2024.
The attached PDF is an additional guideline for implementing emergency work instructions for BHA and provides guidelines on common practices for open intervention labor.
These instructions refer to the type of work projects that will consider using BHA interventions like #cash_for_work (CFW), #food_for_work, and #vouchers_for_work (referred to as "For-Work" initiatives) funded by USAID #BHA in humanitarian contexts.
In general, USAID #BHA prefers low-cost, simple interventions focused on labor retraining that rely on unskilled labor or non-specialized structural work requiring skilled labor.
Rebuilding or major building interventions that require skilled labor for new or complex structural work need engineering supervision and design. If skilled or contracted labor is used, participants are expected to work alongside others on the job, and tasks should be clear.
