Per il Brigadiere Capo Carlo Legrottaglie, purtroppo quel giorno è stato diverso. Non è rimasto in ufficio a sistemare documenti. Non si è concesso una pausa. Carlo sarebbe andato in pensione a luglio. Il conto alla rovescia era iniziato. Qualche giorno di licenza e poi via, verso la pensione. Ma Carlo non ha contato i giorni, perché per i servitori dello Stato ciò che conta è il dovere che deriva dal giuramento, dall'uniforme. Perché quella, lui, non l’ha mai indossata per abitudine. Carlo è uscito in pattuglia, come in ogni altro giorno della sua carriera, è salito sulla 'gazzella', per fare semplicemente il suo dovere.
Aveva 59 anni, una moglie, due splendide figlie. Una vita al servizio degli altri. Come giovedì, quando è intervenuto, ancora una volta. C'era un'auto sospetta. Poteva fare finta di niente o fare il proprio dovere. Non ha voltato lo sguardo. Non ha avuto dubbi, come sempre. Ed è caduto da Uomo dello Stato. Carlo non è un eroe da copertina. È molto di più! Carlo era, è e sarà uno dei volti migliori delle nostre ForzeArmate e dell’Arma dei Carabinieri. È l'esempio che servire significa essere fedeli ogni giorno al Paese e al giuramento, non a parole, ma nei fatti. E lo è stato fino all’estremo sacrificio. Anche quando, forse, nessuno glielo avrebbe più chiesto. Alla sua famiglia non posso offrire parole che leniscano il dolore. A nome mio e della Difesa posso solo fare una promessa, solenne: la famiglia di Carlo sarà anche la nostra famiglia. Come lo sono per noi tutte le famiglie di coloro che hanno sacrificato la vita servendo l’Italia in uniforme. Oggi a rendergli onore a fianco del nostro Presidente Sergio Mattarella, che ringrazio per la sua costante vicinanza, c’era idealmente tutta la Repubblica, tutto lo Stato. Uno Stato che si inchina di fronte alla sua memoria, e ne custodirà per sempre il ricordo e l’esempio. A Dio, Carlo.

⚡️On 14 June, in accordance with the agreements reached on 2 June in Istanbul, another group of Russian servicemen was returned from the territory controlled by the Kiev regime.

In exchange, a group of AFU prisoners of war was returned. At present, Russian servicemen are on the territory of the Republic of Belarus, where they are provided with the necessary medical and psychological assistance.

All the Russian servicemen will be transported to the Russian Federation for treatment and rehabilitation at medical facilities of the Russian Defence Ministry.

Ще одна група наших військових вдома.

Сьогодні з російського полону повернулися воїни Збройних сил України, зокрема Десантно-штурмових військ, Військово-Морських Сил, Сил територіальної оборони.Також звільнено військовослужбовців Державної прикордонної служби, Національної гвардії та Державної спеціальної служби транспорту.

Багато з них провели в неволі майже два роки. Багато — мають серйозні поранення та проблеми зі здоров’ям. Більшість — офіцери.

Ми знаємо про кожного. Ми повертаємо кожного. І працюємо, щоби повернути всіх.

Дякую всім, хто щодня робить це можливим. І особливо — нашим захисникам, які не зламались у полоні. Слава Україні!

Another group of our warriors is back home.

Today, Ukrainian servicemen returned from Russian captivity — including members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, particularly the Air Assault Forces, Naval Forces, and Territorial Defense Forces. Also released were service members of the State Border Guard Service, the National Guard, and the State Special Transport Service.

Many of them spent nearly two years in captivity. Many have serious injuries and health issues. Most are officers.

We know each and every one. We are bringing everyone back. And we continue working to return all.

Thank you to everyone who makes this possible every day — and especially to our defenders who stood strong in captivity.
