Oggi ti raccontiamo la storia di un'incredibile avventura.

🗓️ Per farlo torniamo al 1926.

Immagina un luogo lontano da tutto.
Un oceano coperto di ghiaccio, in continuo movimento.
Dove il sole può restare alto per mesi… e poi scomparire nel buio.

📍 Il Polo Nord.

Lontano, irraggiungibile.

Non esistono rotte.
Non esistono percorsi tracciati.
Solo distese bianche, vento, freddo estremo.

Molti hanno provato a spingersi fin lì.
Con navi, slitte, palloni, aerei.
Senza riuscirci.

Poi qualcuno cambia approccio.

È un militare.
È un ingegnere.
È italiano 🇮🇹

Si chiama Umberto Nobile.

Progetta un dirigibile.
Lo costruisce.
E parte a capo di un equipaggio internazionale, tra cui gli esploratori Roald Amundsen e Lincoln Ellsworth.

Il dirigibile si chiama Norge.

Il decollo avviene il #10aprile - esattamente 💯 anni fa - da Ciampino (Roma).

Attraversa l’Europa.
Raggiunge Baia del Re nelle isole Svalbard, arcipelago norvegese, circa a metà strada tra il continente europeo e il Polo Nord.

Da lì, inizia la parte più incerta del viaggio.

Il dirigibile si spinge sopra il ghiaccio artico,
in un ambiente senza punti di riferimento,
dove ogni errore può diventare decisivo.

👥 A bordo, uomini di Paesi diversi.
Esperienze diverse.
Un unico obiettivo.

Le condizioni sono estreme.
Il ghiaccio si forma sulla struttura.
Gli strumenti di bordo non offrono garanzie.

Orientarsi diventa una sfida.

Poi, il 12 maggio 1926, arriva il momento ...

📍 il Norge sorvola il Polo Nord.
È la prima traversata documentata della storia.

Non è solo un’impresa geografica.
È il risultato di competenze, visione e cooperazione.

E tra quegli uomini, c’è chi ha contribuito in maniera determinante a rendere possibile tutto questo:
progettando il dirigibile e guidandolo in volo.

🇮🇹 Il Generale Nobile.

Oggi, a distanza di un secolo quella storia vive ancora.

📍 Anche negli oggetti e nei documenti custoditi al Museo Storico dell’#AeronauticaMilitare, dove passato e presente dialogano attraverso immagini e testimonianze di quell’impresa.

RT @SpoxCHN_MaoNing: President Xi Jinping sent a message of congratulation on Commemoration of the 55th Anniversary of China-U.S. “Ping-Pong Diplomacy” and Launch of China-U.S. Youth Sports Exchange Events.

President Xi pointed out that fifty-five years ago, Chinese and American elder statesmen, with exceptional political wisdom and strategic foresight, reopened the door for friendly exchanges between our two peoples, and created the remarkable story of “a small ball moving the globe”. Today, young Chinese and Americans meet together to renew this bond and launch a series of sports exchange events that will contribute meaningfully to the cause of China-U.S. friendship.

He expressed the hope that all sectors of Chinese and American societies, especially the younger generation, will draw wisdom and strength from history, enhance mutual understanding and affinity through exchange and cooperation, and make progress hand-in-hand by learning from each other. It was also hoped that the two peoples will not only develop a stronger bond, but also make new contributions to the steady, sound and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.

From seabed to space. 🌊🚀🌕

@NPS_Monterey alumni U.S. Navy Capt. Victor Glover and retired U.S. Navy Capt. Reid Wiseman will soon guide the spacecraft back to Earth where their shipmates aboard USS John P. Murtha (LPD-26) await their splashdown!

2️⃣ Captured by the Artemis II crew during their lunar flyby on April 6, 2026, this image shows the Moon fully eclipsing the Sun. From the crew’s perspective, the Moon appears large enough to completely block the Sun, as it passed between the spacecraft and the Sun, another first in astronaut history.
