U.S. President Donald J. Trump has signed an Executive order re-designating the Houthis in Yemen as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO). Citing the hundreds of Houthi attacks on commercial and naval shipping in and around the Bab el-Mandeb Strait since former U.S. President Joe Biden delisted them in 2021, President Trump has directed the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, to recommend the re-designation of the Houthis as an FTO within the next 30 days.

The Executive Order also directs the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to carry out a review documenting all United Nations partners who have made payments to the Houthis and/or blocked the execution of punitive actions against the group. USAID has been directed to subsequently end their relationships with all entities and nations implicated in the review.

Following a Speech on Sunday by U.S. President Donald J. Trump, in which he threatened to cut any and all Financial Aid to Afghanistan, if the Taliban did not return the $7 Billion in American Aircraft, Air-to-Surface Missiles, Vehicles, and other Equipment left behind during the 2021 Withdrawal from Afghanistan.
