Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations Amir Saeid Iravani said Tuesday that the Iranian government has “received some signs” that the United States is preparing to lift its blockade against coastal areas and port in Iran, adding that as soon as Washington ends the blockade, “I think the next round of the negotiations will take place in Islamabad.”

U.S. Vice President JD Vance’s trip to Pakistan for potential peace talks with Iran is now on hold, a U.S. official tells the Associated Press.

Iran’s state-run Tasnim News Agency has said that no negotiation team will be sent to peace talks this week in Islamabad, and that the decision is “final,” stating that, “The Iranian negotiating team has announced to the American side through a Pakistani intermediary, for various reasons, that it will not be present in Islamabad, Pakistan on Wednesday, and there is currently no prospect of participating in the negotiations.”

U.S. Vice President JD Vance’s trip Wednesday to Islamabad, Pakistan for negotiations with Iran has been postponed indefinitely, a U.S. source confirms to Barak Ravid of Axios, following the Iranian decision to withdraw from the negotiations as divisions remain in Tehran.

U.S. President Donald J. Trump has announced an indefinite extension of the ongoing ceasefire with Iran, at the request of Pakistani Field Marshal Asim Munir, citing serious fractures in the Iranian government, and adding that the ceasefire will continue until a unified proposal is submitted by Tehran. Trump states that the blockade of coastal areas and ports will continue around Iran.

The UK Office of Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) is reporting an attack on container ship this morning in the Strait of Hormuz, 15NM off the coast of Oman, by a gunboat operated by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGC-N), resulting in heavy damage to the ship’s bridge. All of the crew onboard the vessel are reported to be safe.

Following reports that the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Navy (IRGC-N) seized two vessels today in the Strait of Hormuz, both vessels, the Epaminodes and the MSC Francesca can be viewed directly off the coast of Iran on MarineTraffic.

According to Israel’s N12 News, U.S. President Donald J. Trump has set a new deadline for Iran to come with a unified proposal for this upcoming Saturday, April 25.

Amidst the stalled U.S.-Iran talks, U.S. President Donald J. Trump has said that at the request of the U.S., the 8 women protesters, who were set to be executed by Iran tonight, will not have their sentences carried out. Per President Trump, 4 of them will be released immediately and the other 4 will be sentenced to one month in prison, though nothing has been reported or confirmed by Iran.

According the Washington Post, citing three sources with knowledge on the matter, the Pentagon has told Congress that Iran may have placed up to 20 naval mines in and around the Strait of Hormuz and that it may take up to 6 months for clearance operations to conclude. Additionally, per the report, it’s unlikely that said operations can be carried out until the end of the conflict with Iran and a long-term ceasefire can be put in place across the Middle East.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the Pentagon has said that 400 U.S. servicemembers have been wounded in action since the start of the conflict with Iran. Per the report, 271 are from the Army, 64 are from the Navy, 19 are from the Marine Corps, and 46 are from the Air Force. The number of killed in action remains at 13.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) states that the U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz has directed 29 vessels to turn back or return to port since the beginning of the blockade on vessels traveling to or leaving Iranian ports. Per the release, CENTCOM has refuted past reporting that a number of ships passed the blockade, saying that the M/V Hero II and M/V Hedy are instead docked at Iran’s Chabahar port after being directed to turn back. Additionally, in confirmation of reporting from yesterday, CENTCOM has said that the M/V Dorena is currently under the escort of a U.S. Navy destroyer in the Indian Ocean.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has said that U.S. President Donald J. Trump does not view the Iranian seizure of the MSC Francesca and Epaminodes as a violation of the ceasefire framework, saying that the vessels were not U.S. or Israeli vessels. She also added that such actions only amount to piracy by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to USNI, a fire aboard the U.S. Navy Zumwalt-class guided missile destroyer USS Zumwalt (DDG-1000) occurred last night around 9:45p.m. local time, injuring 3 sailors, 2 of whom were treated at the scene and 1 was transported to the hospital. The USS Zumwalt is in the HII Ingalls shipyard in Pascagoula, MS, to be fitted with necessary equipment to launch hypersonic missiles. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

According to the Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs, U.S. Navy Secretary John C. Phalen is departing his post, effective immediately. Undersecretary of the Navy, Hung Cao, will assume the duties as Acting Secretary.

According to a release from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), 31 vessels have been directed to return to Iranian ports or turn around since the beginning of the U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
