Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces carried out a long-range drone attack overnight against Millerovo Air Base in the Rostov Oblast of Western Russia, home to the 19th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment, with footage showing the targeting of at least one MiG-29 Fulcrum.

As part of ongoing celebrations marking Ukraine’s 35th Independence Day, hundreds of ground, air, and naval drones operated by the Unmanned Systems Forces of Ukraine paraded through the capital of Kyiv. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, Ukraine has massively scaled up its production of military drones, currently estimated at 10 million units annually, with plans to exceed 20 million in 2027.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has released video showing a U.S. Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 83, along with additional Super Hornets from other squadrons assigned to Carrier Air Wing 7, launching from the deck of the USS George Washington (CVN-73) in support of the U.S. naval blockade of Iran.

According to today's CENTCOM update, U.S. forces have now redirected 71 commercial vessels, boarded two to verify compliance, and disabled three vessels that failed to comply with blockade directives.

According to a release from the U.S. State Department, following the 45-day Congressional notification period, Syria’s designation as a state sponsor of terrorism has been lifted. The move comes in concert with already in place rescissions of Syrian related sanctions following the fall of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the subsequent opening of the Syrian economy, and notable efforts to diplomatically reintroduce Syria to the world. Additionally, the group at the head of the offensive to oust former President Assad, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, has been delisted as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) group.

The U.S. Army’s AH-64 'Apache' fleet is experiencing an unusually high rate of serious accidents, with five Class A mishaps so far in FY2026.

A CNN analysis puts the current rate at roughly 6.24 Class A crashes per 100,000 flight hours, approaching the Army’s recent worst year of 2024, when the fleet recorded nine major crashes at a rate of 7.02 per 100,000 hours.

The spike comes amid a separate, unresolved transmission problem affecting roughly 10% of the Army’s Apache fleet. Army safety messages identified 70 potentially faulty transmissions in April and another 10 in July. Failures can potentially affect the tail rotor, electrical power and hydraulics, creating the possibility of a sudden loss of control.

The Army has not said how many of this year’s crashes are attributable to the transmission issue, and specifically cautions that its inclusion in safety reviews does not establish causation for any individual mishap. The root cause of the transmission failures remains under investigation, with Boeing assisting Army maintenance personnel.

The latest fatal crash occurred Aug. 12 near Fort Hood, Texas, killing two pilots and prompting a temporary Army-wide pause in Apache training flights. That stand-down ended Wednesday, although deployed units in the Middle East were exempt.

According to a release from the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) Centre, an oil tanker 9nm northeast of Ash Shishah, Oman was struck by an unknown projectile in the engine room. The crew of the vessel, which is disabled, is reported safe at the time of writing. This follows Iran’s threats to retaliate to new U.S. economic coercive measures, in the form of compounding sanctions on the already in place ‘Economic Fury’ sanctions packages, and the ongoing stalemate between the U.S. and Iran over the primary point of contention in the now defunct U.S.-Iran MOU, the administration of the Strait of Hormuz.

Air Force Maj. Jason Watson has been formally charged under the Uniform Code of Military Justice following a series of public statements criticizing President Donald Trump, in and out of uniform.

Watson faces three Article 88 charges alleging contemptuous remarks about the president, five Article 92 charges alleging violations of orders and regulations, and two Article 133 charges alleging conduct unbecoming an officer.

The allegations relate to a June interview, his July 1 appearance at the U.S. Capitol while in uniform in support of Trump's impeachment, and an August 17 CNN interview. The Article 92 allegations also include alleged violations involving political activity, uniform wear, leave and an order to wear his uniform which he reportedly refused.

Article 88 prosecutions are uncommon. A review cited by CNN identified only two convictions since the UCMJ was established in 1951, including the 2021 case of former Marine Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller, who criticized the Biden administration's handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal.

Watson remains presumed innocent. The case will undergo the military justice process, including a potential Article 32 preliminary hearing, after which authorities will determine whether it proceeds to a special or general court-martial.

Additional footage has been published by the Unmanned Systems Forces of Ukraine showing a number of one-way drone strikes over the last few days against high-priority military targets in Russian-occupied Ukraine and Western Russia. These attacks include a previously reported strike against an MiG-29 at Millerovo Air Base, a pair of Kasta-2E2 Target Acquisition Radars, 1L13-3 Nebo-SV Early Warning Radar and an ST-68 Air Defense Radar.

Mike Rogers, the Republican nominee for Senate in Michigan, attended a total of, not one, not two, but three fundraisers hosted by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in Los Angeles on Sunday, as well as another which was planned for Monday, according to The New York Times.

AIPAC, a powerful lobbying group for Israel in the United States, that is facing growing animosity in the Democratic Party from progressive critics of Israel, has spent weeks preparing to start an ad campaign to support Rogers, despite concerns from Rogers and his allies that support from the group could politically backfire in Michigan.

AIPAC spent $32 million through its main super PAC, the United Democracy Project, in an unsuccessful effort to defeat Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, a vocal critic of Israel and AIPAC, in Michigan’s Democratic Senate Primary. This month, which the super PAC entered with $59 million in its account, it took the extraordinary step of making plans to spend on behalf of Mr. Rogers, who has long been supportive of Israel, and against Dr. El-Sayed.

A U.S. Air Force C-17A "Globemaster III", operating under callsign RCH4555, has landed at Vnukovo Airport in Moscow, marking the first publicly observed U.S. Air Force C-17 arrival in Russia since May 2020, when a C-17 delivered ventilators during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The aircraft arrived in Moscow from Riga, Latvia, after having flown to Riga from Joint Base Andrews near Washington, D.C., on August 23.

Flight tracking data indicates the mission is likely connected to an upcoming trip by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, although that remains unconfirmed. The C-17 is frequently used to preposition personnel, vehicles and equipment ahead of senior-level travel, but it can also serve as transportation for the Secretary of War on sensitive or unannounced missions.

President Donald J. Trump has posted to Truth Social stating that Iran is failing to pay "large segments of their military" and is "killing protesters...at levels not seen before," describing the situation as a "humanitarian crisis of epic proportions" that "must be stopped, NOW."

The claim of mass killings appears to refer to the January 2026 nationwide protests, when Iranian security forces carried out a major crackdown in which several thousand were killed.

There have not been credible reports of a comparable new mass killing of protesters in recent weeks. Iran has, however, continued its crackdown through arrests, executions and prosecutions of people accused of participating in the January protests. The European Union and 26 other countries condemned Iran's execution of protesters earlier this month.

President Trump's comments come as his administration has sharply escalated pressure on Tehran, most recently announcing Operation Economic Outcast, an effort to isolate Iran economically and cut off remaining financial lifelines.

In the newest round of diplomatic rows surrounding tariffs between the U.S. and Canada and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s comments saying that U.S. negotiators saw the French language as an “irritant,” U.S. President Donald J. Trump has said that he “would never interfere with” the Canadians speaking French. Per President Trump, the comment from Prime Minister Carney is a lie that further hampers already stalled negotiations.

According to Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, 28 South Korean made K2 main battle tanks have arrived in Poland. Poland, who ordered two batches of K2s, with the second contract being for K2PL designation tanks with added modifications for regional terrain, defense pact compliance etc., has ordered over 350 of the South Korean made main battle tanks to bolster its already diverse fleet of main battle tanks.

According to a release from the Japanese Joint Staff, a Chinese PLAAF Y-9 operated of the coast of Okinawa and other southern Japanese islands, prompting the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force’s Western Air Defense force to scramble jets to intercept the ISR aircraft. Both Russian and Chinese vessel transits within Japan’s EEZ and aircraft sorties have become near routine in recent years, as Sino-Russian military-to-military cooperation and coercive measures increase in the Western Pacific theater of competition.

Days before the start of large-scale combat operations against Iran in late February, President Trump summoned his Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard to the Oval Office in order to ask her if a war with Iran would work and successfully topple the Islamic Regime, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Gabbard outlined running assessments from the U.S. intelligence community, telling Trump that killing Iran’s supreme leader would likely usher in a more hard-line regime open to acquiring nuclear weapons, while the IRGC would rush to close the Strait of Hormuz, destabilizing the global energy market, and strike U.S. forces and partners across the Middle East.
