D.C. Fire & EMS is responding to the corner of 17th Street NW and Pennsylvania Avenue NW on the northwest corner of the White House for two patients following the report of several shots fired that placed the campus on lockdown.

The suspect in tonight’s shooting near the White House has been identified as 21-year-old Nasire Best, with his online presence suggesting that he believed he was Jesus Christ. Best was transported to George Washington University Hospital after the shooting, where he later died from his wounds, according to the U.S. Secret Service.

According to Axios, citing U.S. officials familiar with the ongoing negotiations, the peace agreement that Iran and the United States are close to signing involves a 60-day ceasefire extension during which the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened, Iran would be able to freely sell oil, and negotiations would be held on curbing future nuclear ambitions of Iran.

Both sides would sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that would last 60 days and could be extended by mutual agreement from the two countries. Iran has again denied that the nuclear issue is not part of negotiations, as Reuters, citing a senior Iranian official, is now reporting that they have not agreed to hand over enrichment materials. Earlier this week, Iran steadfastly denied reports that they may be willing to accede to this measure, and their reiteration of the demand again puts their public position at loggerheads with that of the Trump administration.

According to Trey Yingst, reporting for Fox News, the current U.S.-Iran deal framework on the table has U.S. forces staying in the Iranian local region for 30 days, while frozen Iranian assets and funds. Additionally, per the report, sanctions waivers would be granted to Iran as well.

However, amidst reports of the two sides achieving convergence on key issues, the U.S. side has continued to push that enriched material being handed over and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz are two key points of contention that Iran has been willing to work on, but Iranian outlets continue to deny such claims.

President Donald J. Trump has posted an update on the negotiations with Iran to Truth Social stating that negotiations are "proceeding in an orderly and constructive manner."

Amidst increasingly contradictory reports on the deal between the U.S. and Iran, U.S. President Donald J. Trump posted yet again about the deal on his Truth Social app, lambasting critics of the reported deal framework and decrying past deals made with Iran. Per President Trump, “it [the deal with Iran] isn’t even fully negotiated yet.”

Trump told them that if a U.S.-Iran deal is realized, he would like them to become party to a wider peace framework with Israel. In the past, President Trump has championed the furtherance of the Saudi-Israeli Abraham Accords and an expansion of a potential Arab-Israeli rapprochement framework was not received well by the other nations on the call. Per the report, the president’s request was received by silence on the phone line.

According to Iran’s state-affiliated Fars News Agency, an Arash Archer system shot down what was reportedly a stealth drone of a yet unspecified nation over the Arabian Gulf. Per the report, the system is able to detect stealth aircraft which allows for them to be engaged. At the time of writing, no statement has been made from the U.S. or other nations on the matter.
