German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said today that he spoke with U.S. President Donald J. Trump while he was on the way back from his summit in China with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Per the statement from Chancellor Merz, the two spoke on the Iran situation, again agreeing that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. However, the E3 nations, that being Germany, the UK, and France, have approached the Iranian nuclear issue differently than the current administration.
The two leaders also spoke on NATO and the ongoing war in Ukraine, per the statement.

According to Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi, Chinese President Xi Jinping will participate in a state visit to the U.S. this fall. This comes following the invitation by U.S. President Donald J. Trump at the state dinner during his visit to Beijing, China.

Fire and rescue services in Abu Dhabi are responding this morning to a drone strike and resulted fire inside an electrical generator outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the Al Dhafra Region of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Authorities report no injuries, and state that there has been no impact to radiological safety levels or the operation of the Barakah Nuclear Complex.

According to Axios, citing classified intelligence products shared with the news outlet, Cuba has acquired 300 drones from Russia and Iran since 2023 and has concept operations (CONOP) on the books where they would be used to target U.S. installations and vessels at Key West and Guantanamo Bay.

Per the report “officials don't believe Cuba is an imminent threat, or actively planning to attack American interests. According to a release from U.S. Central Command, since the start of the U.S. blockade of vessels traveling to and from Iranian ports, the U.S. has redirected 81 vessels and subjected 4 to disabling fire to ensure compliance with given directives.
