Pakistani sources tell CNN that the overall tone and outcome of talks so far between Iran and the United States in Islamabad has remained largely positive, but that a stalemate persists over control of the Strait of Hormuz.

In an official statement early Sunday published by Iran's state-run media broadcaster IRIB, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGC-N) warned that any attempt by military vessels to pass through the Strait of Hormuz would be met with a “firm and forceful response,” adding that it maintains full control over the strategic strait located between the Iran and Oman. This follows reports that two warships with the U.S. Navy transited the strait earlier today in a freedom-of-navigation operation, completing their mission before withdrawing back to the Arabian Sea.

U.S. Vice President JD Vance has said that no deal was made during the 21+ hours of negotiations, saying “we could just not get to a situation where the Iranians were willing to accept our terms.” He restated that the Iranians were unwilling to shift left or right on key U.S. demands, including their nuclear program.

U.S. Vice President JD Vance said that “We leave here with a very simple proposal. A method of understanding that is our final and best offer.” It now appears that the talks have concluded after failing to merit any form of U.S.-Iranian convergence on positions.

After two previous attempts over the previous several hours, the Pakistani-flagged crude oil tanker "Shalamar" appears to be proceeded inbound to the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz.

Another Pakistani-flagged crude oil tanker, the "Khairpur," is also making the transit into the Persian Gulf after two previous attempts at crossing through the Strait of Hormuz.

According to CBS News, the entire U.S. negotiating team, from principal decision-makers down to the technical team, left Islamabad, Pakistan, this morning, despite Pakistani media saying that Pakistani mediators are still working to achieve points of convergence between Iran and the United States.

Signs for the trilateral US-Pakistan-Iran ceasefire talks are already coming down today, following the failure to reach an agreement to end the Iran War.

In an extremely notable announcement, U.S. President Donald J. Trump has said that naval vessels will begin the process of blockading the Strait of Hormuz and that any vessel that pays a toll to Iran for transit will be interdicted by the U.S. Navy. Additionally, President Trump was extremely critical of the Iranian negotiators as well, following a failure by mediators to reach a deal to end the ongoing Iran War during yesterday’s negotiations in Islamabad.

U.S. President Donald J. Trump has told Fox News that the UK and a number of other nations are set to send minesweepers to aid in securing the Strait of Hormuz, following his announcement that the U.S. will blockade the strait and interdict all vessels that pay a toll to Iran for safe transit.

According to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) Centre, a sailing vessel 54nm southwest of Al-Hodeidah, Yemen was approached by a skiff with roughly a dozen people aboard, ~4 of which were armed. After the skiff pulled alongside the vessel and requested they stop the sailing vessel’s master fired a flare at the skiff causing them to break off. Given the nature of the encounter, it’s yet unlikely that this encounter involved Houthi actors.

According to Iranian state news outlet Press TV, Iran has already started the process of reconstructing destroyed and damaged oil infrastructure, with a plan to reach 80% capacity in the next two months. Per Iran’s CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company, Mohammad Sadeq Azimifar, “Contractors have been mobilized, and restoration work is already in progress.”

Following claims earlier today by U.S. President Donald J. Trump that the United Kingdom and other countries will send minesweepers to the Middle East to assist in reopening the Strait of Hormuz, the British Government has announced that it is trying to bring together a “wide coalition” with France and others to ensure freedom of navigation through the waterway near Iran.

“We continue to support freedom of navigation and the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, which is urgently needed to support the global economy and the cost of living back home,” a Spokesperson with the British Government told CNN. “The Strait of Hormuz must not be subject to tolling. We are urgently working with France and other partners to put together a wide coalition to protect freedom of navigation.”

According to Fox News, citing two U.S. officials, Vice President JD Vance’s final offer delivered to the Iranian delegation in Islamabad last night, prior to the breakdown of peace talks between the two countries mediated by Pakistan, consisted of the following demands:

1. End all uranium enrichment
2. Dismantle all major nuclear enrichment facilities
3. Retrieve highly enriched uranium
4. Accept a broader peace, security and de-escalation framework that includes regional allies
5. End funding for terrorist proxies Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis
6. Fully open the Strait of Hormuz, charging no tolls for passage
