U.S. President Donald J. Trump while speaking to reporters earlier during an event at the White House:
“Pete, do you want to give about a three-minute statement on how we're doing in this, as I call it, military operation? People don't like me using the word ‘war,’ so I won't. But the Democrats call it a war.”
“They [Democrats] hurt our country, and at a very difficult time, because you know we are at, as they would say, a war. They call it a war. I call it a military operation. A very successful one. Successful like nobody's ever seen before.”

According to a readout on the Iranian Foreign Minister’s Telegram channel, detailing a conversation with his Chinese counterpart, vessels from the U.S., Israel, and all nations involved in strikes on Iran will not be allowed to transit the Strait of Hormuz. All other vessels are reportedly allowed through the Strait of Hormuz, providing they coordinate traffic with Iranian authorities. This is in line with past few transits seen through the strait in the past week.

According to the Associated Press, citing a source with knowledge on the matter, the U.S. will deploy roughly 1,000 troops from the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East, amidst the increasing reports of deployments to the Middle East. While the report clashes with earlier reports, stating that 3,000 soldiers were to be deployed, it’s likely that conflicting reports are some attempt at obfuscation by U.S. decision-makers, as a potential ground operation nears.

Per a report from the Wall Street Journal, Iran has responded to the Trump administration’s proposal for a ceasefire with demands that far surpass the characterization of maximalist. Iran has demanded the closure of all U.S. bases in the Gulf region, a new Strait of Hormuz framework, that would allow Iran to charge fees for vessels that transit, the end of all sanctions on Iran, an end to Israeli operations against Lebanese Hezbollah, and no discussion on Iran’s ballistic missile program. Such demands have been called ridiculous and unrealistic by U.S. officials.

According to the Washington Post, citing three people with knowledge on the matter, the Pentagon is considering diverting military aid for Ukraine to the Middle East, amidst the munitions intensive conflict with Iran. The munitions would included interceptor missiles bound for Ukraine through a NATO program where countries supplied military aid to Ukraine by buying U.S. weapons for them. No decision has been made yet on the matter. This comes less than 24 hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the U.S. for continuing to supply military aid to Ukraine despite the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
