In addition to White House Special Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Vice President JD Vance may attend a peace summit with Iranian officials, including Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, being planned for later this week in Islamabad, Israeli official tell Axios.

The Israel Defense Force has announced that the Air Force, with precise intelligence from the Intelligence Directorate, completed a wave of strikes earlier on command-and-control centers of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in and around Tehran.

Statement from Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, following reports that he has been involved in peace negotiations with the United States and may attend a summit with U.S. officials later this week in Pakistan:

No negotiations have been held with the US, and fakenews is used to manipulate the financial and oil markets and escape the quagmire in which the US and Israel are trapped.”

“Democrats are putting our country at great risk during this period of time, a period that they call a war. They call it a war. We call it a military operation.”

Despite today’s announcement by President Trump on the possible start of peace negotiations with Iran, there has been no change in plans to send thousands of additional Marines and Sailors, along with elements of the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division, to the Middle East, military sources told CBS News. 

Senior military officials are weighing the possible deployment of a Brigade Combat Team from the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division, roughly 3,000 Paratroopers assigned to the Immediate Response Force (IRF) which are capable of deploying anywhere in the world within 18 hours, as well as some elements of the division’s headquarters staff at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in order to support U.S. military operations in Iran, defense officials tell The New York Times.

Senior Iranian officials have agreed to several major demands from the United States to end the war, including a five-year freeze for its long-range ballistic missile program, officials tell Israel’s Channel 12.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his first statement since today’s announcement from U.S. President Trump regarding potential peace negotiations with Iran:

“Earlier today, I spoke with our friends, President Trump. President Trump believes that there is a chance to leverage the great achievements of the IDF and the US military to realize the war goals of the agreement. An agreement that will protect our vital interests. At the same time, we continue to attack both Iran and Lebanon. We sanctify the missile and nuclear programs to the last detail and continue to severely harm Hezbollah. Just a few days ago we eliminated two more nuclear scientists and the hand is still outstretched. We will protect our vital interests in any situation.”

U.S. officials have told CBS News that there are at least a dozen underwater mines, believed to be Iranian-manufactured Maham 3 and Maham 7 Limpet Mines, currently scattered throughout the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Bloomberg, citing people with knowledge on the matter, Saudi Arabia has told the U.S. that it is willing to strike Iran if they target Saudi water and power infrastructure.

According to Bloomberg, citing a senior diplomat posted in the region, Oman, historically a mediator between Iran and the U.S., and Turkey played key roles in keeping open back channels between the U.S. and Iran, with Egypt, India, and Saudi Arabia also playing some level of a role in talks as well.
