U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced the deaths of four servicemembers following the crash of a U.S. Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker yesterday over Western Iraq. Search & rescue operations are still underway for two additional missing crewmembers who were onboard the KC-135.

Tracking data from @flightradar24 shows this aircraft squawking 7700 (emergency) yesterday as it returned to Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, Israel. The tail flash identifies this aircraft as being assigned to Beale Air Force Base, CA, indicating this aircraft belonged to the 940th Aerial Refueling Wing. This is likely the 2nd aircraft involved in the incident that caused the loss of another KC-135 yesterday over Western Iraq.

According to the UKMTO, a cargo vessel was hit by an unknown projectile 11NM north of Oman in the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel requested assistance and the crew are in the process of evacuating the vessel. Authorities are investigating following a fire on board, now under control, as a number of crew “remain unlocated.”

The Pentagon is moving a Marine Expeditionary Unit to the Middle East, as Iran steps up its attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, according to two officials who spoke to the Wall Street Journal. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth approved a request from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) for an Expeditionary Unit, typically consisting of up to 2,500 Marines, to be deployed near Iran, with the Marines believed to be coming from Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) in Twentynine Palms, California.

2,200 Marines with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, accompanied by the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group: which consists of the USS Tripoli (LHA-7), USS San Diego (LPD-22), and USS New Orleans (LPD-18), alongside roughly 20 F-35B Lightning lls, have been ordered to deploy to the Middle East, amid the ongoing conflict with Iran, according to ABC News.

The USS Tripoli (LHA-7) and the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit are based out of Sasebo and Okinawa, Japan.

During this morning’s press conference at the Pentagon, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Dan “Raizin” Caine, revealed that MGM-140 Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS), a surface-launched tactical ballistic missile operated by the U.S. Army, have been utilized to sink several Iranian ships, including a submarine, since the start of Operation Epic Fury.
