The Jones Act restricts the shipment of cargo between U.S. ports to only U.S.-flagged vessels. The 30-day waivers would allow foreign-flagged vessels to transport petroleum products from the U.S. Gulf Coast to ports on the East and West Coasts of the United States.

Two people were injured and a gunman killed as a result an active shooter incident this morning at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, only miles from Naval Station Norfolk, the largest naval base in the world and the homeport for the U.S. Atlantic Fleet. The shooting took place shortly before 10:49a.m., when a gunman opened fire inside ODU’s Constant Hall, with local and state law enforcement investigating possible motives, assistance is also being provided by the FBI.

According to CBS News, the other aircraft involved in the crash of a U.S. Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker tonight over Western Iraq was another KC-135, with the tanker that went down in Iraq carrying a total of six servicemembers, while the other tanker was able to safely return to Israel.

Large fires are burning at a Joint Kurdish Peshmerga-French ​Patrol Base near Makhmour in Erbil, Northern Iraq, following an Iranian drone strike that injured at least six soldiers with the French Army.
