U.S. President Donald J. Trump announces that the International Energy Agency (IEA) has agreed to coordinate the release of 400 million barrels of oil from various national reserves around the world, in an attempt to prevent oil price hikes from the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Iraqi channels are now reporting that “multiple tankers” are burning in the Persian Gulf off the coast of Basra, following a coordinated attack by Iran.

According to an Iraqi port official, two foreign tankers carrying Iraqi fuel oil were attacked within the territorial waters of Iraq within the last hour, causing both to catch fire in the Persian Gulf. A total of 25 crewmembers onboard the vessels have been evacuated so far by authorities in Iraq.
