The U.S. Department of Defense has announced that, overnight, naval forces conducted a right-of-visit, maritime interdiction and boarding of the Cook Islands-flagged crude oil tanker, M/T BERTHA, without incident within the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command’s Area-of-Responsibility in the Indian Ocean. The BERTHA, along with several other sanctioned oil tankers boarded recently by the U.S. Navy around the world, fled from Venezuela in early January and was operating in defiance of President Trump’s established quarantine of sanctioned vessels in the Caribbean.

One of the F-22s was forced to return to RAF Lakenheath shortly after takeoff due to a suspected fuel leak, though it will likely make the trip to Israel by Friday.
