Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is currently meeting with defense and security officials to discuss tonight’s major intrusion by several Russian drones into Poland, with him expected to convene an “extraordinary session” of the Council of Ministers at 8:00am CEST.

Police have reportedly discovered the wreckage of a Russian one-Way attack drone, the first one found so far, near the village of Czosnówka in Eastern Poland, roughly 15 miles from the border with Belarus.

The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces has announced that the operations of Polish and allied aviation related to violations of Polish Airspace have concluded, while the search and localization of possible impact sites in Eastern Poland are still ongoing.

The Polish Armed Forces thank NATO’s Allied Air Command and the Royal Netherlands Air Force, whose F-35A Lightning lls assisted in securing the skies over Poland. Ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have returned to standard operational activities across Poland.

According to Polish media, one of the Russian one-way attack drones which entered Polish Airspace last night, struck a home within the village of Wyryki in Eastern Poland, damaging the roof and a vehicle on the property though resulting in no injuries.

So far this morning, the Polish Interior Ministry reports that search teams have discovered the wreckage of 7 Russian one-way attack drones in Poland, with the furthest one being found near Gdańsk in Northern Poland, close to the border with Kaliningrad and the coast of the Baltic.

NATO has activated Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty at the request of Poland, following last night’s intrusion of several dozen Russian one-way attack drones into Polish Airspace. Article 4 directs the North Atlantic Council to begin immediate defense and military consultations for emergencies or situations of urgency, when “the territorial integrity, political independence or security of any of the parties is threatened.”

One of the Russian one-way attack drones that was discovered this morning by authorities was found in Elbląg, Northern Poland, near the Russian-controlled exclave of Kaliningrad, over 175 miles from the border with Belarus and/or Russia.

In a televised address this morning to Parliament, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated “we are likely dealing with a large-scale provocation [by Russia]” following this morning’s emergency meeting by the Cabinet of Ministers, adding that at least 19 Russian one-way attack drone were detected crossing into Polish Airspace, with four of those determined to be threats resulting in their shoot down by NATO and Polish F-35s and F-16s.

The Spokesman for NATO’s Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, Col. Martin L. O’Donnell, has released a statement following last night’s intrusion by Russian one-way attack drones into Poland, stating, “This is the first time NATO aircrafts have engaged potential threats in Allied airspace,” adding that during the attack, “German Patriots in Poland were placed on alert, and an Italian airborne early warning aircraft and an aerial refueler from NATO’s Multinational Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) fleet was launched.”
