Israel appears to have quietly backed away from talks of annexing large portions of the West Bank, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu having removed the issue of annexation from a recent high-level cabinet meeting hours before it began, according to the Washington Post. This apparent decision came following intense pressure from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) against both Israel and the Trump Administration, stating through rarely-used diplomatic channels that annexation would be a “red line” and potentially lead to the collapse of President Trump’s Abraham Accords.

According to Republican Rep. Carlos A. Giménez, a Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee, the F-35 Lightning IIs that have been deployed to Puerto Rico as part of the buildup of military assets in the Southern Caribbean and off the coast of Venezuela, are the same F-35s with the U.S. Air Force that participated in strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities back in June.  

In the latest draft of the National Defense Strategy (NDS), which reportedly landed on the desk of War Secretary Pete Hegseth last week, the U.S. War Department is expected to almost entirely shift away from priorities established under the Trump Administration’s NDA in 2018 and the Biden Administration’s in 2022, which instructed the department and military to prepare for a future full-scale conflict with China and Russia, and instead will prioritize domestic and regional missions in the Americas.
