France and Germany have announced a new initiative to develop a European early-warning system separate from those operated by NATO, NORAD, and the United States, dubbed JEWEL. The system will include space-based satellite missile early-warning and defense based on the “ODIN’S EYE l/II Project” as well as ground-based radars throughout Europe.
