A video claimed to show the active shooter at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, carrying what some are claiming to be a long-rifle (looks more like an umbrella to me), wearing black shorts, a green shirt, and white shoes, with a black backpack, last seen walking near the Thomas Cooper Library.

U.S. President Donald J. Trump said on Friday that national security and privacy concerns related to TikTok and its Chinese parent company ByteDance are โ€œhighly overratedโ€ and that he will continue extending the deadline for the popular video-sharing platform until it is purchased by a company or group based in United States, in violation of the ban approved last year by Congress. This statement by the President follows last weekโ€™s announcement that the White House had created its own account on TikTok.

For the third time in the past week, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) detected and tracked an Ilyushin Il-20M โ€œCoot-Aโ€ Special Mission Electronic Signals Intelligence Aircraft with the Russian Air Force operating earlier today within the Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). In response, NORAD scrambled an E-3 โ€œSentryโ€ Airborne Early Warning and Control Aircraft, a KC-135 โ€œStratotankerโ€ Aerial-Refueling Tanker, and a pair of F-16 โ€œFighting Falconsโ€ to intercept, visually identify, and monitor the Il-20M.

Beginning Sunday, the roughly 2,500 Airmen and Soldiers with the District of Columbia National Guard, as well as several other Republican-led states that have deployed their own respective National Guards to Washington, D.C. as part of President Trumpโ€™s D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force, will be armed with their service-weapons while patrolling the Nationโ€™s Capital, according to Maj. Michael A. Maxwell, the Spokesman for Joint Task Force - D.C. (JTF-DC). Maxwell emphasized that Guardsmen would operate under established rules for the use of force, employing it โ€œonly as a last resort and solely in response to an imminent threat of death or serious bodily harm.โ€

Israeli Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir has launched an investigation into a strike earlier today on Nasser Hospital within Khan Yunis in Southern Gaza, which resulted in the death of up to 20 civilians, including several journalists working with Al Jazeera and Reuters. Following the initial bombing, which Israel claims was not launched by the Air Force but has not provided additional details for, another strike was carried out on search-and-rescue and medical workers that had responded to the first strike on Nasser Hospital.

U.S. President Donald J. Trump attempts to defend last weekโ€™s deal with Intel, which saw the government receive a 10% ownership stake in the multinational tech corporation. The deal has since received immense pushback from both Conservatives and Liberals who have referred to it as Socialist/Communist-like, with Trump calling those who disagree with the decision โ€œstupid.โ€

U.S. President Donald J. Trump today signed an Executive Order which he claims mandates a one-year prison sentence for those who burn the American Flag, in direct violation of the First Amendment of the Constitution and upheld by Texas v Johnson. Despite claims by President Trump that the order imposes a prison sentence for flag burning, the actual order makes no mention of a prison sentence and only directs Attorney General Pam Bondi to look at cases where people burned flags and see if they can be charged with other crimes like disturbing the peace or breaking environmental laws, in an attempt to circumvent the First Amendment.

In a statement earlier by the Spokesman for the Israel Defense Force, Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin, the IDF claims responsibility for a series of strikes earlier today on the Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, which resulted in the death of roughly two dozen civilians, including a number of journalists and rescue workers who were killed in an apparent โ€œdouble tapโ€ on the hospital by the Israeli Air Force.

Attached is the full transcript of the statement:

โ€œEarlier today, IDF troops carried out a strike in the area of Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis. We are aware of reports that harm was caused to civilians, including journalists. I would like to be clear from the start - the IDF does not intentionally target civilians. The IDF makes every effort to mitigate harm to civilians, while ensuring the safety of our troops. Any incident that raises concern in this regard is addressed by the relevant mechanisms in the IDF.โ€

โ€œWe are operating in an extremely complex reality. Hamas terrorists deliberately use civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, as shields. They have even operated from the Nasser hospital itself. Hamas began this war, created impossible fighting conditions โ€” and is preventing its end by still holding
50 hostages.โ€

โ€œHaving said that, as a professional military, committed to international law, we are obligated to investigate our operations thoroughly and professionally. The Chief of the General Staff has instructed that an inquiry be conducted immediately โ€” to understand the circumstances of what happened and how it happened. Reporting from an active warzone carries immense risk, especially in a war with a terrorist organization such as Hamas, who cynically hides behind the civilian population. As always, we will present our findings as transparently as possible. We regret any harm to uninvolved individuals and are committed to continue fighting Hamas, while taking all the necessary precautions.โ€
