Israel appears to be preparing to launch an attack soon on Iran, according to officials in the United States and Europe. -NYT

A Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner being operated as Air India AI171 crashed into a residential housing block this morning during takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, India. At the time of the crash, the aircraft contained 242 passengers and crew, including 169 Indian nationals, 53 were British nationals, 7 Portuguese nationals, and a Canadian. The housing complex which the aircraft impacted was being used as a hostel for at least 200 local doctors, with total casualties still not yet known by authorities in India.

Authorities believe there are no survivors from this morning’s crash of an Air India 787-8 Dreamliner in Ahmedabad, making this the second deadliest aviation disaster in the history of India.

The U.S. Embassy in Israel has restricted the travel of diplomatic staff and their family members to the areas of Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem, and Be’er Sheva, due to “heightened regional tensions” with Iran. Similar actions were taken the Embassy prior to both attacks by Iran against Israel in 2024.

Additionally, the U.S. Embassy reminds Americans in Israel to remain vigilant and maintain a high level of personal security awareness. Be prepared by knowing the location of the nearest shelter in case of a red alert. Security incidents — including mortar, rocket, and missile attacks, as well as unmanned aircraft system (UAS) intrusions — can occur without warning. The situation remains complex and may change rapidly in the coming days.

The International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) Board of Governors voted this morning in favor of a resolution which finds Iran in violation of its nuclear non-proliferation obligations, the first resolution passed by the IAEA against Iran in over 20 years, since 2005. The resolution, which was put forward by the United States, Britain, France and Germany, passed easily, by a vote in favor by 19 of the 35 countries on the Board of Governors, with the only countries to vote against the resolution being Russia, China, and Burkina Faso.

Following this morning’s resolution by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which found Iran in violation of its nuclear non-proliferation obligations, Iran has now stated it will reconsider its cooperation with the IAEA as well as a potential withdrawal from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).

Two survivors from today’s crash of Air India Flight 171 have reportedly been found.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) have announced in a joint statement the construction of a new uranium enrichment facility “in a secure location” as well as “other measures” which are being planned by the AEOI. This announcement comes in response to today’s resolution passed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which found Iran officially in violation of its nuclear commitments for the first time since 2005.

Viswashkumar Ramesh, a 40-year-old from the U.K. is reported to be the only survivor from this morning’s crash of Air India 171 in Ahmedabad. He was sitting in seat 11A at the time of the crash, amazingly suffering only minor injuries and waking up to search-and-rescuers. His brother, who was seated next to him is still missing, presumed dead by authorities in India.

The U.S. State Department has reportedly cancelled a press briefing scheduled for later this afternoon, amid rising tension with Iran.

Indian authorities state that the death toll from today’s crash of Air India 171 in Ahmedabad is over 290.

The U.S. Embassy in Bahrain has released a statement denying any change in their posture related to tensions in the region with Iran, adding that staffing and operations are unchanged and activities continue as normal.

According to CBS News, the Trump Administration is in discussions with the Pentagon and weighting options on how to support potential military action by Israel against Iran without leading to it, with options including aerial-refueling and/or intelligence sharing for the Israeli Air Force, though officials are unaware of any commitments made so far to Israel.

Speaking to reporters earlier at the White House, President Trump was asked how imminent he believed an Israeli strike against Iran was, to which he responded, “Well, I don't want to say imminent, but it looks like it's something that could very well happen. Look, it’s very simple, not complicated, Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.”

According to Axios, U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff told Senate Republicans during a closed-door briefing last week on Iran, that senior officials are concerned Israeli air-defenses could be “overwhelmed” by an Iranian retaliatory attack, in response to strikes against their nuclear facilities by Israel. Witkoff further told the group that such an attack had the potential to cause massive casualties and damage throughout Israel.
