"Iran is fighting American imperialism" β that's nonsense. Revolutionary Iran wanted the USA in IranβKhomeini explained that he was not opposed to American interests in Iran, according to a 1980 CIA analysis titled Islam in Iran, which was partially released to the public in 2008. The embassy cable containing the full text of Khomeini's message remains classified.

Published in 1482, this map was authored by Ptolemaios Klaudios and Nicolaus Germanus, printed by Lienhart Hol in Ulm, Germany, based on the classical geography of Claudius Ptolemy. It is a bold woodcut masterpiece, an atlas printed north of the Alps, famously distinguished by its vibrant lapis lazuli blue seas. The map shows the East as "European Sarmatia" according to Herodotusβs ancient boundaries, stretching from the Vistula in the west to the Tanais (the ancient name that Herodotus used for the Don River) in the east. To the north, it depicts Gothia within a newly modernized Scandinavia and labels the Baltic Sea as the Oceanus Sarmaticus. Along these northern coasts, the Venedes (Wends) are clearly marked.
