St. Catherine of Siena was tormented by demons. The devil had his own scores to settle with her - firstly, Catherine was a fierce ascetic, which, apparently, was a challenge to the dark forces, and secondly, she managed to absolve and send to heaven the soul of one sinful nun who died in her convent.

The shirime is a mischievous creature from Japanese folklore whose name means ‘butt-eye’. It is said that the shirime means no harm, but likes to surprise people by revealing its butt has a glowing eye instead of an anus.
