The guesthouse run by Dorothea Puente, a well-behaved old lady in Sacramento, California, was a place of exquisite luxury. But being a guest there was life-threatening: the grandmother murdered her guests for the money and checks they had on them.
In all, she killed at least 15 people over several years. In 1988 she was sentenced to life imprisonment. The murdering grandmother died in prison at the age of 82.
