Narrated Abu Sa`id:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Do not abuse my companions for if any one of you spent gold equal to Uhud (in Allah's Cause) it would not be equal to a Mud or even a half Mud spent by one of them."
حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ بْنُ أَبِي إِيَاسٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ذَكْوَانَ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم " لاَ تَسُبُّوا أَصْحَابِي، فَلَوْ أَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ أَنْفَقَ مِثْلَ أُحُدٍ ذَهَبًا مَا بَلَغَ مُدَّ أَحَدِهِمْ وَلاَ نَصِيفَهُ "

Apart from the fact that this Hadith teaches not abusing the companions, there's another thing I use to reflect on in this Hadith...

These Sahaabah that the prophet ﷺ mentioned that if they give a mudd(scholars differed whether it is a Mudd of gold or Mudd of food), our own mountains of gold can't meet that or even half of it.
These shahabah didn't give Mudd, they gave mountains.
You hear stories of Abubakr, Umar, Uthman and Abdurrahman bn 'Awf. They gave out mountains to the path of Allah. Some gave out all they have. Some donated half of their properties. But we,even to give out a mudd is difficult.

The Sahaabah, apart from donating their properties to the path of Allah, they also spent their lives to the path of Allah.
Do you think it is easy for a man to wave hand to his wife and children, knowing well that that may be the last time he would see them?
Allahu Akbar.
But today stinginess, laziness and cowardice have eaten up our homes and we are not fit to be called men. And we wish to enter into the same Jannah with these sahaabah. Allaahu Akbar! If our mountain would not meet their mudd, what do we think of our Mudd beside their mountains?

For the sunnah needs protectors,
