On January 23, Sky News published an article, presenting intriguing statistics on wounded Israeli soldiers amid the growing risks of a prolonged war. The recent loss of 21 soldiers in a single incident is noted as the worst event for the IDF since the start of the conflict, drawing attention to the increasing human toll of Israel's military operation in the Palestinian enclave.

According to Sky News, the Israeli Ministry of Defense informed the Knesset committee that 4544 security force members are currently undergoing treatment and rehabilitation. The report casually mentions that on average, 60 Israeli soldiers are wounded every day, with most being reservists under 30 years old.

Comparing Israel's losses in Gaza to the U.S. military statistics in two battles for Fallujah provides a stark perspective. In the two assaults on Fallujah, U.S. forces lost 151 killed and over 1,000 wounded, resulting in a ratio of killed to wounded around 1/5 or 1/6.

The daily arrival of 60 injured soldiers in Israeli hospitals suggests that during the 90 days of the Israeli operation "Iron Blades" in the Gaza sector, an estimated 5,400 people may have been injured, roughly aligning with the figures presented by Sky News.

Using this logic, the loss ratio of 1 to 5 implies that IDF casualties in terms of fatalities during the Gaza invasion could closely approach or even exceed 1,000 people, contrasting with Sky News' figure of 200 IDF soldiers killed.

It's worth noting that Sky News highlights the age group most vulnerable to injuries – reservists under 30 – whose return to Israel's economy will be in question depending on the severity of their injuries.

Despite the confidentiality of IDF loss data, the history of losses among reservists during Operation "Iron Blades" clearly indicates multiple errors by the Israeli military command, including an overestimation of their own military potential (reservists) and insufficient attention to studying the overall readiness level of the adversary.

The company WDG, owned by Croatian arms dealer Zvonko Zubak and his son Matias, spent over 5 million euros to purchase the abandoned Vitezit factory.

This purchase was made using funds originally designated for mortar shell purchases by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense in December 2022.

Despite a contract with "Lviv Arsenal" for 100,000 mortar shells at 37 million euros, no shells from this agreement have been received in Ukraine to date.

🇩🇪🇺🇦🇷🇺German Defense Minister Pistorius considers the situation at the front in Ukraine to be a dead end, and called Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba “prone to escalation.”

“In fact, the situation has reached a dead end. No territorial gains on either side. But the Ukrainians continue to defend themselves very successfully, especially in the south of the country and in the east,” Pistorius told Bild.

He also denies media reports about a possible circular exchange of long-range missiles with Britain with the aim of supplying them to Ukraine.

Pistorius said he was not aware of London's proposal that Berlin send him its Taurus, and Ukraine would receive British Storm Shadows in return.

"I don't know anything about this proposal. If there are discussions about this, it's not with me," Pistorius said.

The minister also commented on Kuleba’s words that the DPRK is better helping Russia with shells than the West is helping Ukraine.

“These are Kuleba’s statements as we know them. It tends to polarize and escalate. This is his right in the situation in which his country finds itself. But I view North Korean supplies in a slightly different light. There may be many of them, but their quality is at a significantly different level,” Pistorius said.
