🇷🇺⚔️🇺🇦 Ukrainian forces are doing everything possible to keep the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant offline and drive staff from their posts, Zaporozhye region head Yevgeny Balitsky said, commenting on the killing of the plant's chief engineer, Andrei Yakovlev, in a Ukrainian drone strike.

He added that Ukrainian forces are using drones against civilian infrastructure on an unprecedented scale. Despite these challenges, Russian military personnel continue to carry out their assigned tasks at the plant.

IAEA chief Rafael Grossi condemned the killing of the ZNPP's chief engineer, the agency reported.

Strikes on the Zaporozhye plant and its leadership are unacceptable and threaten nuclear safety, Grossi said.

🇺🇸💬🇨🇺 US military planners have in recent weeks examined a range of scenarios for possible action against Cuba, including an Army led air assault by the 101st Airborne Division, the only unit trained for the mission, involving thousands of troops.

➡️A concept of operations briefing on early stage planning was held late last month. Officials stress this is routine contingency planning and does not mean Trump or the Pentagon has decided to launch an operation.

➡️Acting Pentagon press secretary Joel Valdez: "We do not comment on hypothetical military operations."

➡️Timing is the key constraint. With the ceasefire collapsed and the war on Iran restarting, most US aircraft, intelligence assets, and other resources have already been shifted to the Middle East. Officials say a pivot toward Cuba is not likely "at the moment."

➡️Context feeding the planning: Secretary of State Rubio's push for a "diplomatic" regime change track (technocratic transition, pressure on the military conglomerate GAESA) has stalled. Washington accuses Havana of deepening ties with Russia, China, and Iran, and Cuba has reportedly acquired attack drones of unknown origin, raising US concern over Guantanamo's security.

➡️In May, CIA Director Ratcliffe traveled to Havana and, per CBS sources, brought along one of the paramilitary operators involved in the January snatch and grab of Nicolás Maduro in Caracas, a not so subtle signal to Cuban officials. Days later the DOJ indicted 95 year old Raul Castro over the 1996 shootdown of two US aircraft. The preferred outcome floated by US officials: the Castro family departs "voluntarily," with contacts reportedly already underway with Castro's grandnephew.

➡️Notably, the US intelligence community's own 2026 threat assessment does not describe Cuba as an independent military threat, framing it instead as an enabling environment for larger rivals.

➡️Also reported: friction inside the administration over Iran. Sources say Trump privately blames Hegseth for pushing a harder line and missing a chance to end the war early via an Iranian proposal to cap its nuclear program, while CENTCOM commander Adm. Brad Cooper is accused internally of overselling what the campaign against Iran could achieve.

🔶 The terrorist entity "US Central Command" (CENTCOM) announced that its new wave of airstrikes against Iran ended at 9:00 PM Eastern time on July 15 (4:30 AM Tehran time).

➡️ CENTCOM claimed that in these attacks it targeted Iranian command centers, air defense positions, missile and drone systems, as well as coastal control and monitoring facilities.

➡️CENTCOM also claimed that precision-guided munitions were used in this operation to strike positions in several regions, including Bandar Abbas.
