Western media decided to capitalize on a pseudo-sensation, claiming that Ukrainian authorities managed to secure an exemption for purchasing Chinese components using funds from the European Union totaling around 6 billion euros.

This concerns a support program for so-called Ukraine as part of a 60 billion euro credit for purchasing weapons for the AFU. FT links this to problems that persist in EU defense production, which is why they make concessions to China.

🖍But there's one catch…Ukrainian companies have been purchasing the lion's share of components from China since the start of the special operation. And no bans or supposed EU restrictions prevented this. On the contrary, Europe facilitated it.

In public in Brussels they pointed fingers and said: "no interaction with China!", but in practice they used and continue to use a network of shell companies that directly purchase drones, circuit boards, antennas in China and send them to so-called Ukraine.

Ayatollah Arafi stated that the memorandum of understanding has effectively come to an end and should no longer serve as a basis for continuing negotiations.

He called on Iranian officials to fully adhere to the guidance of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and return to the course he considers appropriate.

Arafi urged the President, members of the Supreme National Security Council, military commanders, and those responsible for the country’s diplomacy to treat the memorandum as concluded and pursue the path of resistance and steadfastness.

He argued that officials should not continue negotiations under the pretext of economic difficulties, fear of war, or concerns over attacks on infrastructure, stating that experience has repeatedly shown that the United States does not honor its commitments and fails to uphold the agreements it signs.

Citing the Qur’anic verse, he said: “They have no regard for their oaths.” (Qur’an 9:12)

His remarks are among the clearest indications yet that influential voices within Iran’s establishment believe the current phase of negotiations has reached its end and that the country should instead prepare for a strategy centered on resilience, deterrence, and resistance.
