๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ท Full statement from JD Vance following 21 hours of talks in Islamabad:

"We have not reached an agreement, and I think that's bad news for Iran much more than it's bad news for the United States."

Vance says the US made clear its red lines and what it would accommodate โ€” Iran chose not to accept US terms. The core issue:

"We need to see an affirmative commitment that they will not seek a nuclear weapon and will not seek the tools that would enable them to quickly achieve a nuclear weapon."

He claims Iran's enrichment facilities "have been destroyed" but says the US hasn't seen "a fundamental commitment of will for the Iranians not to develop a nuclear weapon, not just now, not just two years from now, but for the long term."
Talks collapse.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธPakistani Defense Minister following Islamabad talks:

Several rounds of intense and constructive negotiations continued for twenty-four hours between US Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Qalibaf, mediated by Pakistan's Field Marshal Asim Munir. Pakistan expresses gratitude to both sides for appreciating its mediatory role.

"We hope that the two sides continue with the positive spirit to achieve durable peace and prosperity for the entire region and beyond. It is imperative that the parties continue to uphold their commitment to ceasefire."

Pakistan will continue facilitating engagement and dialogue between Iran and the United States in the days to come.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ท Al Mayadeen analyst Musa Assi: Vance's uranium/nuclear weapons excuse is "very weak and cannot be believed."

Iran has repeatedly said it doesn't want nuclear weapons and is ready to reduce enrichment to very low levels for civilian use. Everyone is convinced Iran does not have the intention to produce a nuclear weapon.

The real reasons for failure:

1. Israel succeeded in sabotaging negotiations by insisting on continuing the war on Lebanon, violating the ceasefire that Trump had agreed to as a precondition.

2. The US chose "Israel first" not "America first." Vance called Trump ten times in 21 hours, showing he lacked full authority. The American negotiating team chose Israeli interests over American interests and peace.

Failure may take us back to before the ceasefire. The military option is still on the table.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Trump is sharing articles floating a US naval blockade of Iran, the "Venezuela playbook," after talks fail. Here's what that would actually look like.

The idea is the US Navy takes control of the Strait of Hormuz and Kharg Island strangling Iran's economy while cutting China and India off from their key oil source simultaneously.

The problem: Iran is not Venezuela.

๐Ÿ”ธ The strait is only 33km wide at its narrowest point, every ship that enters is within range of Iran's entire coastal arsenal
๐Ÿ”ธ Iran's Khalij Fars anti-ship ballistic missiles have a 300km range and are designed specifically to hit moving ships at sea
๐Ÿ”ธ Noor and Qader cruise missiles, fired from mobile launchers hidden in coastal caves, cover the entire strait from the Iranian shoreline
๐Ÿ”ธ Iran has an estimated 5,000-6,000 naval mines โ€” including influence mines that sit on the seabed and are nearly impossible to detect
๐Ÿ”ธ IRGC fast attack swarm boats are designed specifically to overwhelm US destroyers in confined waters โ€” a classified DoD war game found the US lost 16 major warships including a carrier to Iranian swarm tactics
๐Ÿ”ธ Iran controls three fortified island outposts (Larak, Qeshm and Abu Musa) sitting directly on the shipping lanes, each with underground bunkers and missile batteries

Iran doesn't even need to win a naval battle, FPRI experts note Iran is running an "insurance blockade," it only needs to strike occasionally to make insurance uneconomical for commercial shipping. That alone shuts the strait down.

Mine clearance in a contested environment takes a minimum of 4 weeks, and the US has decommissioned most of its dedicated minesweepers in CENTCOM. In 1991 it took 40 ships four months to clear Iraqi minefields in a permissive environment.

Meanwhile the USS Gerald R. Ford, cited in the article as leading the blockade, is currently in Split, Croatia being repaired after Iranian strikes. The USS George H.W. Bush is en route as replacement.

Trump may be out-blockaded before the blockade even starts.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ท Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf: "The United States failed to gain Iranโ€™s trust in response to our initiatives."

โžก๏ธBefore the negotiations, I emphasized that we have the necessary goodwill and determination, but due to the experiences of the previous two wars, we do not trust the other side.

โžก๏ธMy colleagues in the Iranian delegation at โ€œMinab 168โ€ presented forward-looking initiatives, but in the end, the other side failed to earn the trust of the Iranian delegation in this round of talks.

โžก๏ธThe United States understood our logic and principles, and now it is time for it to decide whether it can gain our trust or not.

โžก๏ธAt all times, we consider โ€œpower-based diplomacyโ€ as another approach alongside military struggle to secure the rights of the Iranian people, and we will not cease for a moment our efforts to consolidate the achievements of 40 days of Iranโ€™s national defense.

โžก๏ธI appreciate the efforts of the friendly and brotherly country of Pakistan in facilitating this negotiation process, and I send my greetings to the people of Pakistan.

โžก๏ธIran is one body with 90 million souls. I thank the entire heroic nation of Iran, whoโ€”following the guidance of the Supreme Leaderโ€”supported their compatriots by taking to the streets and sending their prayers with us. I also commend my colleagues for their efforts in these intensive 21-hour negotiations.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ท Two U.S. warships entered the Strait of Hormuz yesterday but turned back after an Iranian drone appeared overhead.

This was reported by The New York Times, citing sources familiar with the operation.

The ships were expected to demonstrate that the passage was secureโ€”potentially the first step toward a mine-clearing mission. Instead, they withdrew after an Iranian reconnaissance drone showed up. The drone was reportedly shot down.

According to sources, the two U.S. Navy vessels moved out of the Gulf of Oman, entered the strait, and then reversed course. While U.S. officials said the drone posed no direct threat, the Navy chose not to proceed under active Iranian surveillance.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Press TV Exclusive: US destroyers' Strait of Hormuz transit stunt failed, came close to destruction

๐Ÿ”บThe US militaryโ€™s attempt to sail two destroyers through the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday ended as a failed propaganda stunt timed to coincide with talks in Islamabad, a Press TV investigation has found.

๐Ÿ”บThe investigation, based on information provided by highly placed military-security sources, reveals that the US Navy destroyers came within minutes of complete destruction after attempting a high-risk passage through the Strait of Hormuz in a failed propaganda operation

๐Ÿ”บThe USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) and USS Frank E. Peterson (DDG 121), both Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, attempted to transit the strategic waterway but were intercepted and forced to retreat by Iranian naval forces.

๐Ÿ”บAccording to the investigation, the American destroyers and their accompanying frigates did not succeed in passing through the strategic waterway that remains closed for US vessels.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Press TV Exclusive: US destroyers' Strait of Hormuz transit stunt failed, came close to destruction ๐Ÿ”บThe US militaryโ€™s attempt to sail two destroyers through the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday ended as a failed propaganda stunt timed to coincide with talksโ€ฆ
๐Ÿ”บPress TV's investigation found the American attempt to be an extremely high-risk move that could have easily turned into a disaster for the United States and its military.

๐Ÿ”บThe destroyers were only a few minutes away from complete destruction after Iranian cruise missiles locked onto the vessel and attack drones were deployed.

๐Ÿ”บWhen the two destroyers and the accompanying fleet reached the mouth of the Persian Gulf, Iran's cruise missiles locked onto them, and the destroyers were given only 30-minutes to turn back. The vessels immediately retreated.

๐Ÿ”บThey had attempted to use electronic warfare tactics, including turning off its position reporting system, in a bid to deceive the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) naval forces.

๐Ÿ”บBy spoofing their identity, they sought to present themselves as commercial vessels belonging to Oman, purportedly engaged in coastal transit in the southern part of the Sea of Oman, the investigation revealed.

๐Ÿ”บThe destroyers also chose a route very close to the coast and through shallow waters, taking a high risk to pass through this route and enter the Persian Gulf through concealment, deception, expecting that Iranian forces might be negligent during the ceasefire

๐Ÿ”บHowever, the IRGC naval forces, while patrolling around Fujairah, had already detected the deception and taken swift action.

๐Ÿ”บThe USS Frank Peterson first tried to continue on its course but immediately realized that cruise missile radars had locked onto it, and it was stopped by IRGC vessels.

๐Ÿ”บSimultaneously, IRGC drones flew over the two destroyers. The USS Peterson then received a notification on international channel 16 that it must either turn back and leave the area within thirty minutes or it would become a target of the Iranian Armed Forces.

๐Ÿ”บAs the destroyer insisted on continuing, a final warning was issued to it, such that the destroyer was only minutes away from being destroyed

๐Ÿ”บAccording to the investigation, the conversation between the IRGC naval forces operator and the American destroyers indicates their full compliance with the IRGC's warning

๐Ÿ”บThe investigation further revealed that the failed operation was specifically designed to exploit the ceasefire in order to test the readiness of Iran's naval forces.

๐Ÿ”บIt also sought to have an impact on the negotiators in Islamabad, where high-stakes Iran-US talks were underway under Pakistani mediation.

๐Ÿ”บ According to the findings of the investigation, the operation of the two US destroyers failed and was defeated in achieving both goals.

๐Ÿ”บSupport helicopters were also flying above destroyers. Simultaneously with the warning to these two destroyers, all vessels in the area were warned to stay at least 10 miles away from them so that if they were targeted by the IRGC, the surrounding vessels would not be harmed.

๐Ÿ”บThe investigation also noted that the high-risk and botched US operation was the result of the expulsion of top military generals from the army on the orders of War Secretary Pete Hegseth in recent days.
