🇷🇴 Romanian nationalist politician George Simion has formally requested the Constitutional Court of Romania to cancel the results of the recent presidential elections, which saw the pro-EU liberal candidate, Nicușor Dan, win.

Simion has stated that the reason for his request is due to alleged election interference from France and Moldova.

The previous presidential elections in Romania, last December, were cancelled following the first round victory of independent nationalist candidate Călin Georgescu. The Romanian Government had cancelled the elections then due to what they claimed to have been "Russian interference".

No evidence of alleged "Russian interference" was presented to support the Romanian Government's decision.

It seems that foreign interference is only acceptable if the interfering powers are from the West...

🇵🇱🇺🇦 Poland Backs Ending Ukraine’s EU Trade Privileges Amid Farmer Protests

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced on TVP Info that Warsaw supports ending the EU’s so-called “trade visa-free” regime with Ukraine.

Tusk emphasized that while Poland continues its political support for Kiev in the conflict with Russia, such support should not harm the interests of Polish farmers.

Polish agricultural workers have staged repeated protests at the Ukrainian border, opposing the influx of cheap Ukrainian grain and produce that undercuts local markets.

The EU’s preferential trade arrangement with Ukraine is set to expire on June 5.

🇸🇾🇷🇺 Syria Update: Attack on Russian Post Near Hmeimim Airbase

Around 5 a.m., armed militants attacked a Russian military post on the perimeter of the Khmeimim airbase in Syria. They breached the fence and began throwing grenades. A firefight broke out, with a sniper also firing on Russian personnel.

The attack was repelled. Unconfirmed reports suggest Russian casualties include 2 killed and 4–5 wounded.

Two of the attackers were killed. Their bodies were later claimed by representatives of the former HTS (Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham) authorities, who denied any involvement in the incident but requested the remains be returned.

Recently, HTS militants had tightened checkpoints and inspections around the Russian base, officially citing “security reasons.”

After the clash, Russian-language radio channels picked up calls with an accented voice urging: “Russians, surrender.”

Despite the attack, transport flights at the base continue without interruption. Russian command appears to have accepted HTS's explanation.

As for HTS leader Abu Mohammad al-Julani—it's unclear whether he has lost control or is deliberately provoking such incidents to later disown and eliminate the attackers.

Russia is strengthening bases and building military infrastructure near the Finnish border, The New York Times reports, citing satellite images.

Analysts believe the region could become a new flashpoint, particularly in the Arctic, with estimates suggesting Moscow could deploy thousands of troops there once the active phase of the conflict in Ukraine ends.

Finland joined NATO in April 2023, after which the Russian border with the alliance more than doubled to 2,530 km.
