*FOURTH WEEK OF EASTER.*

*FIRST READING*
Of David’s posterity God has brought to Israel a Saviour, Jesus.

*A reading from the Acts of the Apostles (ACTS 13: 13 - 25)*

Paul and his company set sail from Paphos, and came to Perga in Pamphylia. And John left them and returned to Jerusalem; but they passed on from Perga and came to Antioch of Pisidia. And on the sabbath day they went into the synagogue and sat down. After the reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, “Brethren, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, say it.” So Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said: “Men of Israel, and you that fear God, listen. The God of this people Israel chose our fathers and made the people great during their stay in the land of Egypt, and with uplifted arm he led them out of it. And for about forty years he bore with them in the wilderness. And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them their land as an inheritance, for about four hundred and fifty years. And after that he gave them judges until Samuel the prophet. Then they asked for a king; and God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years. And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king; of whom he testified and said, ‘I have found in David, the son of Jesse, a man after my heart, who will do all my will.' Of this man’s posterity God has brought to Israel a Saviour, Jesus, as he promised. Before his coming John had preached a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. And as John was finishing his course, he said, ‘What do you suppose that I am? I am not he. No, but after me one is coming, the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to untie.”’

*RESPONSORIAL PSALM*
Taken from Psalm 89: 2 - 3, 21 - 22, 25, 27 (R) 2a

And the response is;
*R/. I will sing forever of your mercies, O Lord.*
Or:
*Alleluia.*

I will sing forever of your mercies, O Lord;
through all ages my mouth will proclaim your fidelity.
I have declared your mercy is established forever;
your fidelity stands firm as the heavens. *R/.*

I have found my servant David,
and with my holy oil anointed him.
My hand shall always be with him,
and my arm shall make him strong. *R/.*

My mercy and my faithfulness shall be with him;
by my name his might shall be exalted.
He will call out to me, ‘You are my father,
my God, the rock of my salvation.’ *R/.*

*GOSPEL ACCLAMATION*
Revelation 1: 5ac
*Alleluia.*
Jesus Christ, you are a faithful witness, the first-born of the dead; you have loved us and washed our sins in your blood.
*Alleluia.*

*GOSPEL*
“He who receives any one whom I send receives me.

*A reading from the holy Gospel according to John (JOHN 13: 16 - 20)*

[When Jesus had washed the feet of his disciples, he said to them,] “Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. I am not speaking of you all; I know whom I have chosen; it is that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who ate my bread has lifted his heel against me.’ I tell you this now, before it takes place, that when it does take place you may believe that I am he. Truly, truly, I say to you, he who receives any one whom I send receives me; and he who receives me receives him who sent me.”

*FOURTH WEEK OF EASTER AND MEMORIAL OF ST JOSEPH THE WORKER*

*FIRST READING*

_”Behold, we turn to the Gentiles”_

*A reading from the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 13:26-33)*

In those days: (When Paul came to Antioch of Pisidia, he said in the synagogue,) “Brethren, sons of the family of Abraham, and those among you that fear God, to us has been sent the message of this salvation. For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, because they did not recognize him nor understand the utterances of the prophets which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled these by condemning him. Though they could charge him with nothing deserving death, yet they asked Pilate to have him killed. And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a tomb. But God raised him from the dead; and for many days he appeared to those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people. And we bring you the good news that what God promised to the fathers, this he has fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus; as also it is written in the second psalm, ‘You are my Son, today I have begotten you.’

*The word of the Lord*.

*RESPONSORIAL PSALM*

*Psalm 2:6-7, 8-9, 10-12a (Response is taken from Psalm 2 verse 7bc)*

And the response is:
*R/. You are my son. It is I who have begotten you this day*

Or: *Alleluia*.

“It is I who have appointed my king
on Sion, my holy mountain.”
I will announce the decree of the Lord:
The Lord said to me, “You are my Son.
It is I who have begotten you this day.” *R*/.

“Ask of me and I will give you
the nations as your inheritance,
and the ends of the earth as your possession.
With a rod of iron you will rule them;
like a potter’s jar you will shatter them.” *R*/.

“So now, O kings, understand;
take warning, rulers of the earth.
Serve the Lord with fear;
exult with trembling, pay him your homage.” *R*/.

*GOSPEL ACCLAMATION*

Taken from John 14:6

*Alleluia*.
_I am the way, and the truth, and the life, says the Lord; no one comes to the Father, but by me_
*Alleluia.*

*GOSPEL*
_“I am the way, and the truth, and the life.”_

*A reading from the holy Gospel according to John (JOHN 14:1-6)*

At that time: Jesus said to his disciples, “Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the’ Father, but by me.”

*FOURTH WEEK OF EASTER*

*FIRST READING*

_Behold, we turn to the Gentiles_.

*A reading from the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 13:44-52)*

The next sabbath almost the whole city gathered together to hear the word of God. But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with jealousy, and contradicted what was spoken by Paul, and reviled him. And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken first to you. Since you thrust it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles. For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, ‘I have set you to be a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the uttermost parts of the earth.”’ And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of God; and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. And the word of the Lord spread throughout all the region. But the Jews incited the devout women of high standing and the leading men of the city, and stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district. But they shook off the dust from their feet against them, and went to Iconium. And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.

*The word of the Lord*.

*RESPONSORIAL PSALM*

*Psalm 98: 1, 2-3ab, 3cd-4 (Response is taken from Psalm 98 verse 3cd)*

And the response is:
*_R/. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God_*
Or: *_Alleluia_*.

O sing a new song to the Lord,
for he has worked wonders.
His right hand and his holy arm
have brought salvation. *R*/.

The Lord has made known his salvation,
has shown his deliverance to the nations.
He has remembered his merciful love
and his truth for the house of Israel. *R*/.

All the ends of the earth have seen
the salvation of our God.
Shout to the Lord, all the earth;
break forth into joyous song,
and sing out your praise. *R*/.

*GOSPEL ACCLAMATION*

Taken from John 8:31b-32

*Alleluia*.
_If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, says the Lord_
*Alleluia*.

*GOSPEL*
_He who has seen me has seen the Father_

*A reading from the holy Gospel according to John (JOHN 14:7-14)*

At that time: Jesus said to his disciples, “If you had known me, you would have known my Father also; henceforth you know him and have seen him.” Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and we shall be satisfied.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you do not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority; but the Father who dwells in me does his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or else believe me for the sake of the works themselves. “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son; if you ask anything in my name, I will do it.”
