❗️🇷🇺🇺🇦 Battle for Avdeevka: Urban Fighting Begins
Situation as of the end of January 22, 2024

Following the repelled counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) on positions occupied by Russian troops on the southeastern outskirts of Avdeevka, units of the Russian Armed Forces have once again advanced along Sportivnaya, Sobornaya, and Chernyshevsky streets.

▪️ According to the footage published online, the Russian Armed Forces now maintain firm control over the entire southeastern outskirts of the city and have successfully cut off a small salient to the northwest of the Tsarskaya Okhota recreation center.

▪️ However, the forest located between the base and the Vinogradniki SNT remains a battleground, and it is still premature to declare full control over it.

▪️ As mentioned earlier, it is likely that the Russian Armed Forces aim to advance northwest towards the Khimik microdistrict. They are currently defending dacha plots and residential buildings in this area, continuously repelling attacks by Ukrainian formations.

▪️ Meanwhile, the struggle in the Opytny area and the fighting near the anti-aircraft unit, which had been blocked for a long time, has intensified. The issue of cutting off this ledge and reducing the front line has become even more urgent.

🔻At the current rate of advance, Russian troops will undoubtedly face enormous pressure from the constantly reinforced AFU.

In this regard, the battle for Avdiivka resembles the assault on Bakhmut, where our troops were repeatedly forced to repel attacks by superior enemy forces. It is too early to predict how long it will take to advance to Khimik and capture Avdeevka. However, the successes of the Russian Armed Forces, especially as confirmed by objective control personnel, are certainly encouraging.

Situation south of Avdivka: Russian Army stormed and captured the Former air defense missile battalion. In addition, Russian troops captured the rest of Chernyshevskogo and Sportyvna streets and new section of Soborna street. Ukrainian Army is withdrawing northwards as the situation worsens on the southern front where Russian forces have fire control over the section of the railroad to Khimik neighbourhood.

🗺 According to Rybar, Russian forces have achieved another break through east of Avdiivka.

🗒 Based on supply/consumption rate and the stopping of supplies, it was expected that Ukrainian forces defense line will start crumbling in the beginning of February in Avdiivka direction. Although, the collapse happened 10 days earlier because unlike in Bakhmut direction, the Ukrainian army isn't sending large number of infantry without equipments to Avdiivka direction.

❗️🇷🇺🇺🇦 Highlights of Russian Military Operation in Ukraine on January 20-22

▪️Over the past few days, Ukrainian forces have continued to attack Russia's rear facilities. In Ust-Luga, Leningrad region, a drone damaged the Novatek gas terminal, which caused the production process to be stopped.

▪️Ukrainian forces have attacked dozens of settlements in the border area of Belgorod region. The civilian infrastructure was damaged, and one civilian with shrapnel wounds was taken to the hospital.

▪️In Svatove direction, Russian units continue to hold the initiative. During the successful offensive of Russian Armed Forces, Krokhmal'ne was completely liberated, fighting is taking place on the southern outskirts of Berestove.

▪️In addition, Russian Army soldiers advanced along the N-26 highway leading to Kup'yans'k. As a result of competent assault operations south of Krokhmal'ne, it was possible to gain a foothold on the outskirts of Kotlyarivka and Kyslivka.

▪️To the west of Bakhmut, Russian units have gained a foothold in the central part of Bohdanivka, AFU maintains its presence on the southwestern outskirts. Near Ivanivske, Russian soldiers are entrenched in forest plantations south-east of the settlement.

▪️In Donetsk direction, Russian troops broke through enemy defences south of Avdiivka. Russian Armed Forces managed to take a large fortified area "Tsarska ohota", which remained impregnable since 2014.

▪️At the same time, in Donetsk, AFU once again organize a bloody terror, firing from MLRS at a city market in the city center at a weekend. 28 people were killed and over two dozen were wounded. The next day, the city was attacked by drones, and over a thousand houses were left without electricity.
